Good location, but needs careful room choicePosted 16-Jul-2014
Pros: pool and hot tub, staff, location, pizza place
Cons: better a/c and sound proofing
Location: Beach and main shopping very close, walkable to zoo
The location is great, just 2 blocks from Kuhio beach. We also liked the pool and hot tub. They are small but as hotel is only 12 floors they didn't get too crowded and some days/evening we had it to ourselves. The room itself was good sized, comfortable and nicely done. Having the kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and two burners meant you could self cater for some meals if eating out all meals concerns you. There was a great pizza place on site too. The minus - we booked a moderate city view room and when we first arrived we were on the 4th floor. This looked directly onto the very close apartment building next door. When I say very close I mean I could read the text of the tattoo of the big dude lying on his bed watching America's Got Talent and eating loco moco. Also, the street noise was constant and excessive. Even with ear plugs in, I couldn't sleep. And the patio door needed to be opened as the air conditioner was also very loud and ineffective so it was either bake in quiet or be cool and deal with the noise. Luckily, when we asked for a room change to a higher level they could accommodate us and that did the trick. The 8th floor still had street noise but less and the earplugs could deal with it. And we no longer were accidental peeping toms. I would say unless you can get a guarantee your room is on the 8th or above floor, or you can sleep the sleep of the dead and don't mind not using the balcony, it is fine place to stay.

Nice hotel, only a few blocks from Wakikii BeachPosted 14-May-2014
Pros: Close to beach, free purified water/coffee/tea/lemonade. If you have a car, you can park in secured basement with daily fee. Laundry room available.
Cons: Free packets of oatmeal and maybe donuts.
Location: Couple of blocks from Wakikii Beach, Farmers Market. Pearl Harbor, climb Diamond Head and drive north/island see amazing beaches and Dole Plantation.
Pleasantly surprised. The hotel is only a few blocks from Waikiki Beach. We also liked the idea of small kitchenette. We stayed on top floor (12th), over looking city on one side, and view of mountain and beach from the balcony. There is another hotel but you can still see the beach. The staff is great, Cathy our daily room cleaner was special. We were able to meet her as we were leaving. The pool and hot tub are a great way to end the day. Not just a pool and hot tub, the pool side has a small restaurant and the decorations feels like you are truly in Hawaii. I read a lot of reviews for various places, but when I read a review that they come to this place each time, I thought let's try it, and I was pleasantly surprised!

Perfect location!!Posted 11-May-2014
Aqua Bamboo is in an amazing location. 1 mins walk from Waikiki Beach and all the shopping and restraints. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Nothing to rave about but it met our needs for the one night we stayed in Waikiki.

The staff was excellent!!Posted 15-Apr-2014
We came to the bamboo early in the morning and they got us checked in long before the designated check in time. The staff was wonderful from the time we arrived until we left.

Ok hotel, close to beachPosted 8-Apr-2014
Pros: The pool area is nice (if you want to use a pool when so close to the beach).
Cons: Hotel could be updated and made a little more fresh, although it was clean.
Location: Just 2 short blocks from the beach and Cheesecake Factory. Close to pink line trolley and outlet shuttle.
Hotel is a little dated and rough around the edges. We were 'upgraded' to a kitchenette room with 2 doubles although we booked a king. This made the room seem a little small compared to other hotels we've stayed at in Waikiki. Our room was also located on the road which was quite noisy with traffic, though this might be an issue in quite a few hotels in Waikiki. We were not given fresh soaps although staying for 5 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful though, it is in a good location for the beach and easy walking to Cheesecake Factory, which is a must!

Nice hotel 4 blocks from Waikiki beach.Posted 4-Apr-2014
Pros: Pool landscaping was great. Having the full kitchen saved us money as we cooked our own breakfasts and a couple of dinners.
Cons: Update the tub.
Location: Close to the beach, shopping, restaurants, and pickup for purchased tour of Pearl Harbor. On site Lovin Oven made great pizza!
Enjoyed the free appetizers, drink and entertainment on Th night. Especially enjoyed making my free orchid lei! Rooms and kitchen were fine. Bathroom could use a little updating. Was great being able to check out beach towels and beach chairs from the hotel.

Could have been great with a few changes.Posted 2-Apr-2014
Pros: Loved the pool, garden area. Very private and comfortable. Liked the option of a separate bedroom as there were four of us. Kitchen was great.
Cons: We read that beds would be changed every 3 or 4 days and ours were not changed over a 7-night stay. Bathtub needs replacing. Room needs painting.
Location: Great location one block from main street, 2 blocks from the beach.
Our room was quite run-down, in serious need of a face-lift. Also very cramped and dark. We felt mis-led by the photos on-line and we were expecting something more airy with a sitting area on the deck. Perhaps the rooms overlooking the pool were nicer. Sheets appeared too big for the beds and beds were not nicely made, ie the top sheet crept higher each day and the blanket lower. Liked the size of the hotel (small) and loved the patio/pool area which was private and surrounded by a well-maintained garden. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Very happy with our stayPosted 24-Mar-2014
I have just spent a week staying at the Aqua Bamboo. Great location; easy walk to the beach and bus stops, main strip shops and dining. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Free wifi in the room and lobby is a bonus as is free access to cold water, coffee and tea, and the daily paper in the lobby. The hotel itself is a little older than most, however our room was clean, spacious and we heard little street noise. Free drinks and music are put on by the hotel staff each Thursday afternoon. Access to beach towels and chairs is also a plus.

Nice hotel for our Honeymoon. Close to the beach,Posted 17-Mar-2014
Pros: The staff and the welcome that you receive.
Cons: Bathroom was a little dated but manageable. The positives by far outweighed the negatives.
Location: Close to the beach, transport, ABC stores (but they are on every corner anyway) and the ease of access.
The staff were excellent, the hotel close to everything including Waikiki, Value for money, nice pool area just had an overall great time in Honolulu. It is the staff that make any establishment, while there are many more expensive hotels, and I mean more expensive hotels, the personal service we received was commendable. Our parents have stayed there before and plan to stay there again this year.
