“Fair stay for the price...”
...taking into consideration the location. The outside may seem run down, but the interior has been very nice. Now you should understand this is a motel, not a five star hotel, so when I say I was very pleased with the stay - you should have that in mind. All I need when it comes to this kind of places is: safety, clean space, quiet nights and friendly stuff. I was happy with everything - the single doubt I have is about the possibility of a nightly walk from the Braddock Road metro station to the motel. I only walked during the day and there were some buildings that looked like projects - however I did not feel threatened at any time. You have the option of a longer walk from the King street metro anyway. It is placed in reasonable walking distance from King street and the ride to DC is a breeze - 6 blocks to the closest metro and another maybe 15 minutes to downtown DC. The stuff was very friendly and useful when I asked for some information.
“Good place to stay.”
It was not hard to get to with public transportation, City bus a block either side of the motel.
“What we expected...”
Our room was small but clean. The bathroom had been recently renovated and the bed was comfortable. It was a 6 block walk to the Braddock Street Metro station and the DASH bus stop was right outside. It was exactly what we were expecting for the price. The only concern was weak wi-fi signal that kept us from using our computer.
“Great Value”
I am splitting my work week this summer between DC and home. The location was perfect and the price was unbeatable. The outside of the hotel was a bit worn, but the inside has been renovated and is comfortable. This place is a no frills place, but it provided easy access to food, the in-room microwave and the refrigerator is a big plus, and the staff is friendly and helpful. All in all, a great deal.
“Great motel for the money”
the motel is located toward the end of old towne, parking was free, room was clean and the metro was located about 5 blocks from the room. if you are looking for frills, room service and a pool, this is not the place for your, this is a classic motel for a great value. We spend most of our time in DC and only time to rest and sleep in the room. grocery store around the block and a variety of resturants in the area.
“Good budget accommodation”
This is a good place to stay, based on what it is, i.e. a 2-story courtyard motel and one of the less expensive places in the Washington area. The room was clean and in good condition; the bathroom seems to have been recently renovated. Don't expect luxury touches that you might find in an expensive hotel. There was no radio in the room, but those aren't usually very good in hotels. However, there was free wifi. It's about a 10-minute walk to King St., where most of the restaurants, etc., in Alexandria are.
“Much better than first appears”
Upon first glance, the place could definitely use some remodeling and updates. But once I had gotten over that, I found it to be clean and safe, the housekeeping to be excellent, and the location to be convenient. There was a microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room. The motel is within a block and a half of Starbucks and Trader Joe's, and around eight blocks from Old Town King Street and the metro. Rates were cheap and with the money saved at the Towne Motel verses the next lowest hotel rate, I could eat out at very nice restaurants in Old Town.
“Town Motel Alexandria”
We stayed here for a total of 4 nights. The first 3 nights our room was very clean. We went farther south for 2 nights but booked a room for our final night here. In the bathroom I found a dirty towel behind the door, litter basket was not emptied and there was hair on the floor. We arrived after 9 PM so there was enough to clean the room. After our earlier experience this was disappointing. We were too tired to ask for another room and since it was for one night we didn't move. The location wasn't as bad as some of the earier reviews. There's alot of building going on around that part of Alexandria. There were new hotels as well as another older motel in the area. It's over 7 blocks (including walking through the parking lot in front of the Metro stop) from the nearest Metro stop. The fare could be expensive if you coming or going to the other end of DC depending on the time of day. It's one stop from Regan Airport. So whether you take the Metro or a cab it's not expensive. I think the next time I'll stay in DC itself.
“they're doing what they can”
pleasant clerk, metal room key, beaten up room door, tidy room that smelled bad, and thoughts that spending a little more to stay someplace else might not have been a bad idea.
