“nice place to stay”
overall, a very nice place to stay. It is close to Metro and has a nice walk thru town. Bicycles are available free from hotel. Parking, valet only, does cost ($25-30/D), but they may have discount for AARP/AAA members. Only negative was that they were not clear in explaining room/parking cost policies when asked.
“Great location and beautifully decorated”
This gem of a hotel sits in the perfect location on King St in Alexandria. The staff are courteous and professional, the tasteful decor makes you feel like you are in a spa and I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient, and comfortable stay.
“Amazing!”
Wow, what a great experience! Not one disappointment. Very edgy and fun! Loved it!
“Great Little hotel”
Very happy with location, amenities; only problem was waiting for coffee to be refilled! Hotel EXTREMELY clean, quiet; will DEFINITELY return.
“Will go back.”
The staff was friendly and helpful, the ambiance was very classic and welcoming, and the room lovely. I would have coffee available until noon, for those who like to sleep in, or have a coffee machine in the room. The restaurant , The Tasting Room, that is adjacent to the hotel has the best casual fare ever!!! The location of the hotel is perfect because it is just a couple of blocks from the Metro, so DC is easily accessible. But don't miss downtown Alexandria, because it is charming. The shops and restaurants should not be missed. It is only about a seven block walk from the hotel, or take the trolley that runs every fifteen minutes.
“Excellent place in Alexandria”
In town for visit to Patent Office, metro from Reagan National, walked from metro stop, walked to restaurants, walked to Patent Office; very convenient! Friendly, helpful staff, clean room, extremely comfortable. I would definitely stay again.
“Happy visitor from Florida”
I recently stayed at the Lorien in Old Town, Va. the week before Christmas. I was there to surprise my daughter in DC, but I got surprised, because it was the weekend that Washington got snowed in and I was stranded at the hotel for 4 days. The hotel did everything they could to make my stay as pleasant as possible. I loved the Pillow Menu...I think I tried all the pillows. If you want ice, coffee maker, it is just a push of the button and it is there within minutes. The hotel is very clean, with beautiful decor. the room I had overlooked a courtyard that (after the snow) was so pretty with a bonfire in the evenings. They always had coffee in the morning and the best hot chocolate and apple cider with glazed nuts in the evening. Brabo's was next door to eat at and the food was very good, with a good wine list. The whole area of Old Town was very pretty and safe to walk around in and the people were friendly. Since I was snowed in I was able to walk around alot. I went to the spa at the hotel and had a wonderful massage. I will make sure I stay there again when I visit my daughter. The hotel is very convenient also..two blocks from the metro that goes to Regan airport.
“Get knocked out by your room!”
If you have seen the many feature pictures, be guaranteed that that will be what you will be receiving. The room I stayed in was a standard two queen bed room, and it by far tops any hotel I have been to thus far. The price was VERY reasonable when I went, it was a complete steal (which doesn't hurt), but I would've been willing to pay more for the comfort of the place. I usually have trouble sleeping at night, but as soon as I hit that fluffy bed at the end of the day, I was completely knocked out! (If you have ever seen Disney's Little Mermaid, their beds would be the equivalent of the bed that sunk in like a sponge when sat on.) I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for: (1)Their beds that give you six pillows (2) Very spacious bathroom, it could compete with the size of the room (3) Computer w/ flat panel and free internet (4) Massive Flat HDTV (5) Located close to the Metro and in a beautiful part of Alexandria, where there is a whole street of wonderful finds like: Casablanca restaurant (that has a belly dancer daily at 8pm), plenty of antique stores, Mischa's coffeehouse (featured on Food Network), and a whole lot more goodies!!
“Comedy Central Weekend”
This group of luxury, boutique hotels always meets expectations, and this was no exception. Completely delightful!
“The only place to stay in Old Town!”
My stay at the Lorien was nothing short of awesome. The service was far beyond what I could have imagined. If you want or need something, you've got it. I wanted to buy a couple of bottles of this amazing wine I tried at the Wine tasting room at the hotel. Unfortunately there was none there so the restaraunt manager went to another retailer and purchased them for me! I was so impressed. When it was time for me to leave for the airport, the "cab" they use is a Mercedes feul efficient hybrid. It cost less than the cab i rode in to the hotel. I was very impressed. Being from Alexandria I know my options for hotels. There is no comparison!
