The Skydome is worth the stayPosted 6-Mar-2014
Cons: Write North or South on the room key folder so I know which tower to go up.
The hotel is nice. The pools are wonderful and the staff was very friendly. I got some of that brusque East Coast treatment from some of the front desk staff, but the food servers, and the housekeeping staff more than made up for it. Dinner in the Skydome with a beautiful slowly rotating view of the city at night was a marvelous experience. If only Double Tree would go back to the yummy warm soft chocolate chip cookies they used to have everything would have been perfect. :)

Pros: the hotel has shuttle service to/from airport and to the nearby mall/metro station every 30 minutes.
Cons: the only problem found is that the bath is noisy when you open the bath tub, and it makes a lot of noise to the nearby room and vice versa. Use it on
Location: Good location, if you do not want to rent a car can use the nearby Metro station and hotel shuttle or walk in 10 minutes to the nearby mall.
Hotel is amazing. Loved the stay together with my wife for a conference in the Washington DC conference center
Wall to wall children and incompetent securityPosted 24-Feb-2014
Cons: Competent security.
Not a very pleasant one. For one, the hotel was booked for some sort of middle school event and it was overrun with teenyboppers. Hotel security couldn't get any of them in order and the hotel was full of them (in the hallways and elevators). Crystal City Double Tree has two towers. It would have made complete sense to house all of the children in one tower and the rest of the guests in another or at the very least, separate the children from the rest of the guest by putting them on their own floors. So we were stuck on a floor where 12 and 13 year old children were running down the halls and playing in the elevators all night long. Yes. This was a one time event and I was unlucky to be there but hey, that's the way it is. If the hotel management had any sense in planning for these things and if they have competent security, I would have had a better stay. But they weren't so Hilton has lost a customer. You get what you pay for and I've learned my lesson. I'll pay extra and stay at Sheraton next time.

Great StayPosted 18-Feb-2014
Cons: Mini fridge and microwave in the room
Very clean hotel, the front desk staff were very polite! Enjoyed the stay, not noisy. The only thing I would recommend is that the hotel put mini fridges in the rooms. Our room did not have one and it was very disappointing, seeing as we had just eaten and had leftovers that went bad.

Fine, but nothing specialPosted 18-Feb-2014
This was a nice place to stay, in a good area, at a good price. The only problems we had were the lack of free wifi and the fact the in-room food selection was small and disappointing. It appears a bit old, but in good condition. I would recommend it to someone visiting the city, especially if they get a room at a good price.

Nice hotel close to tourist sitesPosted 12-Feb-2014
Hotel was very nice and the price was excellent. I asked for an upgrade and even that was only $20. The only thing was we didn't get a good view but the room was very nice. Comedy show on the 14th floor was awesome and the food was excellent!

Good room for one night in DCPosted 9-Feb-2014
Pros: Beds, pillows, front desk staff, valet parking
Cons: Room service, internet access
Location: It's nice that the hotel is near everything important (The Pentagon, Capitol Hill, etc...).
The staff were very friendly, with the exception of the room service people. I called for room service at 10:30pm when they close at 11:00pm, and they acted like it was a chore for them to complete my order by saying they "were closing soon", so I just told them to forget about it. I don't like that you have to pay for internet at Hilton hotels, but I assume that's consistent across the entire chain. It's right next to the Pentagon, and it was pretty cool to wake up to that view outside my 9th floor window. Otherwise, the rest of the staff were very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and it was good for one night.

Overnight to fly next dayPosted 7-Feb-2014
Pros: Easy to get to, good food for dinner and breakfast. Helpful staff.
Location: At this time, only interested in easy access to National!
Great place to stay before impending snow which threatens airline flight the next day. Easy shuttle ride to the airport. A keeper for us!
