“Modern boutique hotel in Old Spanish style”
Hotel Gran Mediterraneo is newly built in the old Spanish style. The hotel owners both speak perfect English and are gracious and helpful in every way. The Gran Med is situated three streets from the main square, known as the Park, and two streets from the Artisans Market. The rooms are large and outfitted with all modern amenities, e.g. flat screen TV, phone, room service, hair dryer, kettle, etc'. Breakfast is continental and sumptious. Remember to order the Jugo de Pina (fresh pineapple juice). We were 3 businessmen coming for a week, and stayed for an extra two days. The staff were ever-helpful, and even went shopping outside for us on occasion. If you want to get personal attention in a boutique hotel, you've found the place.
“Hotel Gran Mediterraneo IS grand”
and personal attention you don't easily find in the US, or other places. The place is lovely and triangles a corner with steps and columns that immediately make it look special. The Bell boy in uniform greets you at the curb and the hotel makes you feel like this is your home. The lobby is lovely, the restaurant was great with a sumptuous breakfast of different courses that comes with the room. We also ate there for dinner and loved it. The rooms are very spacious and quiet and the location is in the heart of the city. San Pedro Sula is a pretty intense city but this hotel was definately a sweet oasis where you could feel looked after. I am so glad we chose this hotel over the more familiar generic hotels.
“Good Hotel with friendly owners”
Very comfortable rooms. Good for Business or leisure. Owners are very friendly and helpful
“Didn't meet any expectations”
This hotel was highly rated (and overrated) online. Having a cool, comfortable pool was an important requirement on this trip, which was advertised with this hotel. The pool had a layer of scum and looked like it hadn't been used in a long time. The food at the restaurant tasted like it came out of a box. The location was adequate for our needs and close to the main square, but if you walk over a couple of blocks you come to a place where I would never want to walk again. The receptionist berated me for not speaking the language and her attitude was "if you are in my country you speak my language." WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
“False 4 stars, read the reviews, don't book.”
Don't be like me and book just because it's the highest star rating on Expedia. Regrets. :-( The good. • Hotel LOOKS beautiful. • Good for taking pictures, indoor scenery is nice. The bad. • Attitude of staff is horrible in general. There were a few who were great but the rest were disrespectful even. • Night shift workers in main lobby were sleeping and didn't answer the main door until after several knocks. On another night the guy working the main reception desk appeared to have friends hanging out with him. • The hotel hosts frequent receptions and parties. Rooms are not soundproofed as advertised. Expect every weekend to be loud and unbearable. • Pool is FILTHY and smells like sewage. Too bad I only found out after I got in. It's only 2 feet deep throughout. You can't really swim. I complained and the only response was, "Oh, esta bien sucioto verda?" with a big cheesy grin like, "Oh you got us!" They turned on the filter only after I got out of the pool in disgust. The water never got better. • No covered parking. They have a parking garage in the building but it's used as storage for furniture and construction material. Parking is in a lot across the street, uncovered. • The soaps and shampoos are cheap • The water pressure is terrible in the shower. • They got combative with me when I wanted to bring some guest of to my room. "You have to pay if they're going to visit for longer than 20 min." The staff there has no tact. Do not stay here.
