“Un hôtel chaleureusement recommandé”

Un hôtel authentique, des planchers qui craquent, un escalier en bois superbe pour gravir aux chambres, on sent la vie aller et venir dans les couloirs. Les chambres, qu'elles soient pour une ou plusieurs personnes sont très confortables. Les salles de bain rénovées offrent un confort certain. Un piano en usage libre dans la pièce principale permet de se relaxer au son de la musique tout en étant confortablement installé dans des canapés profonds dont le style ajoute encore au charme de l'hôtel. Bref, vous pouvez choisir cet hôtel les yeux fermés, vous ne serez pas déçus ! Pour un prix plus que raisonnable par ailleurs ! Un accueil chaleureux vous attend également à la réception ! En plus, niveau situation géographique, l'hôtel est à 10min à pied de la gare et à 15-20min du centre médiéval. Note maximale pour cet hôtel !!

“Loads of character”

I really enjoyed my stay here. there are negative and reviews, and so i thought i should say something positive. i don't know what people are expecting from a hotel to give such poor reviews, but what i got from this one was character, cleanliness, friendly service, comfort and security. the location and price were great as well. the only slight problem was on one night there was a party and it was rather loud. however, in general the noise levels were non-existent and i slept well. this is a beautiful old hotel, and i will definitely be staying again.

“Good Vaklue for money”

We stayed in an en-suite double room at the rear of the hotel, which was very comfortable and clean. I booked a double room but was given a twin, however this was sorted out for us without me having to mention it which I was impressed with. The staffing levels in the evening were a bit low, 1 person on hand to staff the bar and reception but I'm knit picking, all in all very good and will definitely be staying again for a mini break in York

“Very nice hotel”

This was a very nice hotel. Very clean and comfortable rooms, if not spectacular. I enjoyed the goodies like hot cocoa and real cups for coffee/tea in the room. Excellent service of the staff, particularly at meals. Try the breakfast buffet--full English breakfast! And what a variety of items on the menu at a very reasonable price. It really did have an "old world" feel to this hotel. I really loved the service and attention from the hotel staff.

“Looking forward to my next stay!”

I've stayed at this hotel a fair few times now, and the service has always been very good. There is a friendly welcome, and considering the age of the beautiful building, the rooms are clean and well-serviced. ALL of the staff do their best to make a guest feel completely at home. I must admit I've never sampled the dining-room, preferring to eat in the bar, but having said that, the food I have had has been excellent and plentiful, without question. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you're staying in York.

“Worth a visit”

We were pleased with the standard of our room and the decor (oldie worldie) of the main hotel. However, we felt that the additional cost for breakfast, which was just standard,was too expensive. I found the coffee brought to the table for breakfast was undrinkable: it was really strong with a disagreeable taste.

“Peaceful and quiet, yet close to the centre”

This was a great little hotel, very quiet and restful. Though it was a fifteen minute walk into York's centre there were frequent buses and the station was only ten minutes away on foot. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

“Nice Art Decco Styled hotel”

The Elmbank is situated about a mile outside the centre of York - an easy walk into town. There is limited parking at the hotel, but I have always found a space. Th main hotel is nicer than the Annex, but both are reasonable, good value for money places to stay.

“Convenient and Comfortable”

The Elmbank's main rooms retain some character, and the bedroom we had in the main building was comfortable and fairly clean throughout. It is within easy walking distance of the centre and attractions and with free parking is ideal for a tourist break. The free parking spaces are limited and first-come though so arrive in good time.
