“January 2012 review”
The hotel is very pleasant and agreeable, but it is very expensive. You are charged extra for absolutely everything, including water in the room, coffee etc. Given that the hotel is only two years old there are a lot of things they haven't got right yet, including the service (which is often very slow). Ask for a quiet room as it's very noisy if there is an event, and definitely hire a car if you are there for more than three days; the hotel is cut off from everything and you need a car to get around. I liked the hotel and thought it was very well kept and maintained, but just watch out for those extra fees on just about everything...and most definitely check your bill when you check out (I found a number of things on my bill that were incorrect, they took them off immediately, but it's a bit sneaky).
“A seaside getaway!”
We had a comfortable stay and this was facilitated by the good service of the hotel staff. Although a little removed from downtown, the location of the hotel is excellent when you admire its landscaped layouts on the beach. The food at the 2 restaurants is good and bar is a livelymeeting point for the evening. Overall, this is a family relaxation place, but also good forthe business traveller.
“Curacao Hyatt”
Problem is not the hotel. Problem is with the island Was disapointed with surroundings quite poor, food was very average and far from city/casino/bars Overall it s a great place to forget your real life, and trully enjoy doing nothing. The Spa was excellent by all means
Infernal en WE!
“Good hotel with limited dining”
Decent hotel...but I think I'll try someplace different next time in Curacao. Let's start off with the good. The hotel itself is nice. The rooms are nice. The staff are attentive and friendly. You have amazing views of Curacao, and even though it's farther from the city than most places, the island is small enough that it's a non-factor if you have a rental car, which I'd highly recommend you get. Now for the things that could be improved. We got the breakfast included package which was nice at first. But after the third day, I'd would have rather stuck a fork in my foot than have eaten at the breakfast buffet again. Of course, I did, the rest of my stay, because frankly, there's not many choices for dining there. There's a quick pizza place on premises, but aside from the main restaurant, Medi, the pizza place, the pool bar Swim, and the seafood place Shor, there's not much else to choose from. Medi and Shor are both very pricey (about $65-80 for two)and the pizza place and SWIM are expensive for casual restaurants as well (about $35 for two)...at least for our budget. The staff at Medi are hit or miss. Some were great, some would ignore requests. The beach was man-made, but decent, which is why we were glad we rented a car because we were able to visit Curacao's natural beaches, and those are amazing. All in all, the hotel itself is nice, but I wouldn't stay again, especially if I was planning on staying longer than a few days.
“Destination wedding but not for vacation”
After a year of long hours of work and hectic schedules, my girlfriend and I decided to go Curacao for a much needed getaway. We chose the Hyatt because of it's reputation as an "oasis" on the opposite end of the island's more bugeoning areas. We chose wrong! On the positive side, the hotel boasts beautiful rooms that are new and moderately appointed. The staff of the hotel is nice and eager to please - but the good stops there. On the negative side - while the staff is more than cordial, they are inept and ineffective. When we arrived, the hotel was basically empty and we were well taken care of - but towards the end of our stay large wedding parties checked in and the service dried up. The concierge staff could not recommend places to visit nor did they produce brochures to entice us off property. If you choose this hotel, you better plan your stay before you go and don't plan on any help. Eating is expensive onsite ($50/60 breakfast & lunch, $100/150 dinner) and the "options" are more than limiting. The concierge recommended The Boathouse restaurant off site and we unfortunately went. We were eaten alive by bugs and the food was mediocre. Going offsite costs $60 roundtrip to go 12 minutes away. The pools are nice but crowded. The "beach" is a JOKE! It is man made, shallow, crowded and not inticing in the least. The hotel hosts many destination weddings, and this is the only reason to choose this hotel - to have a secluded spot for a singular event and nothing more.
“Too bad so far out and "green" management team.”
Stay was fair, rent a car on day one on location. Menu's at resort VERY limited. The business center is not managed by hotel and the overcharged us over $8. have not seen a refund on that yet. No where to hang towels after use. (one small hook and bar in front of sink, if you place bath towels there they are on floor. Seperate shower would have been nice (tub/shower combo) did not expect this for 5 stars. Seems to be a mix up on room up grades. If you are in a Sea View Delx. No upgrades available. Sport's vacation fun, scuba, tennis, golf all very good. Ocean swimming in canal to Marina and you face a dock.
“Terrible Mattress and very, very far from main attractions”
We'd have never made our reservations at Hyatt if we knew in advance how distant it is from the city (> 10 miles) and that, once having reached the hotel's main entrance, it would take another 05 km driving through a complete DARK road to our room.... Next we found out that although new, the two different rooms we stayed had terrible mattresses. Its a very elegant, clean and modern hotel with great service and staff, but both distance and quality of mattresses weighed far more heavily in our overall experience.
