The district of Nienstedten consists of 4.4 square kilometers on the right bank of the Elbe River. Now considered a suburb of Hamburg, Nienstedten has retained much of its historic village charm with well- preserved 18th-and-19th century architecture and an annual holiday market. The Hirshpark, set along the Elbe, offers a small wildlife sanctuary and tennis courts.
