“Nice and New”
Loved the hotel, Very modern. Lacked a few minor things such as slenda for the stabucks coffee, Paper at the door each morning. One of the front help was very short, not accomadating at all. Not even a smile. His name I think was Carter. He is the only real complain I have the concierge service was delightful and helpful. I would definately stay again, and just avoid that unpleasent employee. Oh and you have a charge per stay if you want a fridge. Which is a good idea if you stay for a few days.
“New York - it's our kind of town”
Whole holiday was a fantastic experience! We found that the hotel being in New Jersey was ideal for us and in a prime location - quieter than Manhatten, superb surroundings near to the waterfront with the PATH station and Mall ideally located nearby. The staff were excellent, friendly and courteous and nothing was too much of a problem. Travelling as a family of four with two children we found this an ideal base for exploring New York City and the kids thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the pool. Insider tips: We found Mars 2112 disappointing to say the least especially as there are so many excellent restaurants nearby (Hard Rock, Plant Hollywood). Take an official taxi from the airport as we got ripped off. Get your discount tickets for shows from TKTS in Times Square/Seaport. At the hotel use the concierge info for excellent local restaurants.
“Great stay just outside New York”
I highly recommend this hotel for business or personal stays. The hotel was brand new and immaculate. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. It felt more like Ritz Carlton service than Westin. There's a pool as well, which is nice for the family or exercise. We usually stay in manhattan when we visit New York but this hotel has made me think about staying in jersey city from now on. For the price, this hotel can't be beat.
“Going back asap”
Hotel seemed very posh.
“Staff was warm and welcoming!”
Perfect place to stay when visiting NYC, Eduardo to rest of the staff were INCREDIBLE. Stayed with my son for our first trip into the city and couldnt have been happier. Close by so much, quiet!!!
“Hospitable, polite, and very relaxing - will go again!”
Once we checked, the service was phenomenal. The coolest thing for me was that at night, the hotel was beautifully, comfortingly quiet - in my room. Outside noises didn't interefere with my sleep - and THAT was phenomenal!
“Loved it!”
Hotel was in a perfect place for us. Situated on New Jersey, it was extremely good to return to the space and quietness of the area after a busy and tiring day in New York. The PATH system was less than 5 minutes from the hotel door, and took approx 15 minutes to reach 33rd street which is pretty central to the N.Y. sights. Cheap and efficient. A pretty decent shopping mall is 3 minutes from the hotel (with macy's!) . We had breakfast at the hotel and most evening meals. The hotel food is not cheap but was very good so not expensive either! - value for money and relaxed atmosphere. There is a lovely boardwalk along the Hudson and pleasant places to sit with seating and gardens along it. Perfect to view the Manhattan skyline and to 'riverwatch' .
“An excellent value option for a NY city break”
This was my first visit to New York, and staying at the Westin really added to my experience. The hotel definitely deserves its four stars, it's pretty luxurious. I believe it was only built a couple of years ago, and it was spotless. The area is still being built up and there's a building site across the street but there was no noise from it. My room was great - massive bed, power shower, flat screen TV, iPod dock, chaise longue... amazing! And as others have said, you get a Starbucks coffee machine instead of a kettle, very cool. The downside of the four stars is that the 'extras' are expensive - the minibar and breakfast prices are steep, and you have to pay for WiFi internet. But to be honest, as I was out in the city most of the time this wasn't a problem. The hotel is in Newport which is a regenerated former port area across the Hudson from Manhattan. It's a bit like Docklands for anyone who knows London. It felt very safe. You have to use the PATH train to get across to Manhattan but this only takes about 20 minutes. PATH also makes it pretty easy to get to Newark Airport too. It runs 24hrs so it was never a problem to get back to the hotel at night. Top tips: if you get time have a walk along the Hudson waterfront and read the information signs about how the area was regenerated, it's fascinating. There are great views of Manhattan too. And if you don't fancy eating out in New York itself, there are lots of nice restaurants in Hoboken, the next stop up on PATH.
“Nice stay”
The hotel was nice and staff was very friendly and helpful. Not much choice to eat around the area though
“Nice place”
Although they could not accomodate early check in, our room on the top floor with a Manhattan view was ready by 3pm. Price was half the prevailing rates elsewhere and the room was double in size including high ceilings. Stayed two nights and every expectation was met. Despite being sold out before the NYC Marathon, getting a bell person was quick during check out. Will definitely stay here again when visitng New York.
