The staff could not have been more accommodating getting us taxis, suggesting places to eat, etc. Very nice.

This hotel is right next to Grand Central Station, which is very convenient, and right in 42nd st. The hotel personnel were very courteous, room was clean. Great option when in NYC. Strongly recommended.

I arranged a trip as a birthday event and leaving trip for a fellow work colleague. On arrival, found the hotel very nice and the staff very helpful. Room and views - excellent. One of my party became ill and we needed a hot water bottle, where we managed to purchase at the local pharmacy; to get it filled with hot water, we spoke to housekeeping and was charged for the privaledge of filling the bottle with hot water.... not a nice surprise. No Tea/Coffee in rooms or any cups, except glasses and an ice bucket. Everyone likes a cup of tea/coffee in the morning and if you want one, you are charged room service charge for it; could not even buy a cheap kettle for the time spent looking. Mindy's bar is very expensive and to sit in reception, there are only 2 chairs or you can sit near the bar, but you must have a drink after 12.30hrs, when the bar opens, so you either in the room or out the hotel!! Apart from that, i would stay again. Great coffee shop next door, but is very packed with all hotel guests and business men and women locally.

I just cant say enough great things about this hotel. Friendly,clean,compfy. My son and I stayed there 3 nights. About 20 min walk to time square. All the attractions that close. It has been a long while since I have stayed in a place that wonderful. And I travel alot. I think I want to give it a 6 out of 5.

“Great place to stay!”

The Helmsley was centrally located for me. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Hotel staff was helpful. I had a problem with my television and they responded immediately. When I slept in one morning, they called and asked when it would be convenient to make up my room. The lobby was comfortable, bar and restaurant were excellent. Doormen were extremely helpful with directions, questions, etc.

I travel just about year-round, and have stayed in over 60 hotels in NYC over the years. This was my first stay at the Helmsley and I was very pleased indeed. Great location with easy subway access. Hotel was very busy but check-in was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Room was exceptionally clean and smelled fresh. Bathroom spotless, and water temperature/shower pressure excellent. Towels a bit rough, but bed/bedlinens were fresh-smelling and super comfortable. A bit of noise when neighbors showered, but otherwise very quiet, including heating/cooling unit. Very little waiting for elevators, bellmen and concierge reponsive and very friendly. What else can I say? Highest regards!

“Great hotel”

Excellent hotel. Right near a subway entrance (half a block) and about two blocks away from the Chrysler Building. It was also one stop away from Penn Station (you could walk there in about 10 min or so. Right near Penn Station we caught a shuttle bus to take us to LaGuardia which only took 15 min for $12, which was great! The room was fabulous, clean with a great view. The concierge was extremely helpful. An excellent bargain for my money. I highly recommend this hotel!

Avec mon groupe nous effectuons pour la seconde fois un voyage a new york, cette année nous avons eu un hotel de grand standing dans la 42 rue tres bien proche du metro. nous somme entierement satisfait de cette hotel le personnel est tres agréable le cadre est idylique par contre il correspond plus a une clientel d'affaire ceci etant cela ne nous a poser aucun probleme et nous avons vecu un sejour innoubliable que ce soit a l'hotel ou dans la rue merci expedia je suis ravi de travailler avec vous et pense vous retrouver pour un nouveau sejour au panama
