“An excellent stay at the perfect price!”

So many reviews made us wary of the hotel but we booked it after looking at the hotel's site and a few of the good reviews. And thank goodness we did! The hotel was excellent for the price. The room was clean every day and there were always fresh towels. The air conditioning worked wonderfully as did the water both hot and cold. The staff was always helpful and the location just can't be beat. Next time I'm in NYC I will definately be staying at the Gershwin again!

“Perfect spot for the laid back traveler”

I stayed @ the Gershwin this past May ('05) and it was wonderful! The hotel is situated near all the action; close the the subway station and w/in walking distance to lots of attractions. Our room was spacious, w/ a surprisingly large bathroom for a hotel in NY; in other hotels we felt as if we were in a closet, but not at the Gershwin! The hardwood floors and bay windows gave our room a light, open feeling. In spite of the fact that this hotel is a hotel/youth hostel combo, we slept quite well as the hotel rooms are situated away from the hostel rooms. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. All in all it was a wonderful stay and I'd definately reccomend the Gershwin, no matter what brings you to New York!

“ORIGINAL”

C'est un hôtel très sympa, superbement situé, relativement calme (on ne donnait pas côté rue - il n'y avait pas de double vitrage - mais nous étions au troisième et on entendait hélas ronronnait la clim générale du bâtiment...mais nous n'entendions rien des autres chambres), la chambre était assez grande, la salle de bain avec une douche à l'italienne, très spacieuse, la déco originale, un peu kitsch mais très confortable. J'ai été séduite. La façade est très barcelonesque. Tout m'a plu et si je devais revenir à New-york (j'en rêve déjà) je n'hésiterai pas à revenir dans cet hôtel qui sort de l'ordinaire. Je le recommande.

“Great Hostel in the bulding!”

The location is AMAZING, the Hotel building is gorgeous and artsy, and the hostel ain't half bad. It's clean and safe, and for $35 in NYC it's more than worth your money.
