Good room near Times Square

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: It was clean, and the room was large and comfortable. We found it a great place to rest after long days about the city.
Cons: The shower did not properly work in our room.
Location: Times Square, as well as access to the subway, is nearby. What more could you need?
This was a better than adequate place for my wife and I. It was larger than other hotel rooms we could find for the price and quite comfortable for the two of us. The bathroom was a little small and the shower/bathtub wouldn't drain properly. But the bed was nice and the TV and internet access was great and complimentary. The staff was warm and helpful for our 3 night stay. It's great place to stop and unwind after a long day exploring the city, but probably not as nice as a place to spend your whole day.

Pictures can be deceiving

Posted 3-Oct-2014
I booked this hotel using the Unpublished Rate option on Expedia. A service I will never use again. The photos of the rooms on Expedia are of a completely renovated room, a far cry from what I received as a room when I checked in. I suspect that they keep the renovated rooms for the travellers not using the Unpublished Rates The carpet was dingy with questionable stains. The bed and dresser furniture was new. The kitchenette cabinets were neat up and there was tile missing around the refrigerator. In one cabinet was the small hot water tank that had the insulation sticking out where the metal panels had been removed. The bathroom was the kicker, with yellowed vanity, plastic tub and toilet that was made level by adding grout under one side. Tiles along the wall were missing and the room had a general feel of disrepair. However it wasn't until I pulled back the shower curtain that I got the biggest surprise. There was no shower head. This made me question just how much care housekeeping paid when cleaning if they missed something like this. I went down to the front desk to inform them and they promised someone would be up to fix it shortly. I waited for 45 minutes before returning to the front desk to repeat my complaint. They called the superintendent with me standing in front of then. Seems like he was sleeping, another 45 minutes and I now had a shower head. The air conditioning unit that was in the window sounded like a jet taking off even at the lowest speed.

A bed to sleep on in the heart of Manhattan

Posted 1-Oct-2014
Pros: Proximity to Times Square
Cons: I have no complaints, everyone was friendly.
Location: Within 1/2 a mile you have all the Theater District and Times Square.
This is a very nice place to stay in Manhattan if all you need is a place to sleep (the room comes with a kitchenette too). The room is comfortable and one block from the port authority terminal - which means access to all subway trains and buses.

Good value if you don't care about cleanliness.

Posted 30-Sep-2014
Check in was quick and the hotel staff were pleasant. The lobby was very nice. However, when I got to the room there was an uncomfortable odor. The bed was okay, kitchenette was not bad but the bathroom was old and dirty. The light in the bathroom made a buzzing sound anytime it was on. The tub and plastic tile walls were not plastered to the wall correctly. The sink was miniature size. I think a cleaner more modern bathroomakes all the difference for hotels. There was a lot of noise from the traffic outside but that was expected for the vicinity and price.

I would not chose this hotel again

Posted 28-Sep-2014
Pros: General location, but this particular block does not feel safe
Cons: See above
Location: Hells Kitchen, Times Square, 42nd street. General location is good
Single staff for the whole appartment. Was extremely busy so no real personal attention. There are no facilities. The street is maybe the worst street in the neighbourhood. Felt like walking an extra block. Bed was clean, but the room needs a large cleaning and some maintenance.

Nice apartments near Times Square

Posted 27-Sep-2014
Pros: The room, the location the staff, the facilities in the room.
Cons: Maybe a lick of paint would make it look a bit "loved"!!
Location: Ideal location for Times Square - literally 10 mins walk, loads of places to eat nearby on 9th ave.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the apartment had everything we needed, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, all linen provided. The air conditioning was very effective, and the room was clean and tidy - a little tired in places, but as we only spent time asleep in the room it didn't matter. If you are not used to traffic noise then I would recommend earplugs! But the hotel itself is very quiet - no noisy guests shouting in the corridor, or slamming doors as we found in many other hotels we have stayed in. There's a laundry room, and towels can be changed as often as you like, and depending on the length of stay you get a free room clean when you want it. The staff are very friendly and helpful, advising us of tours, etc. the apartments are ideally situated for Times Square and the Port Authority Bus Terminal from where you can travel most anywhere. They are also located right at the end of the Lincoln tunnel so ideal if you fly in to Newark!! Will definitely stay here again!!

Metro Apartments

Posted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: Bed was very comfortable. It has a small kitchen area with dishes and silverware which was very handy. There is a fridge as well. The window opens.
Cons: It could use a fan in the bathroom but everything in there was functional. Right next to the Lincoln Tunnel so there is a lot of road noise.
Location: Easy walking to the Javits Center.
Staff was very welcoming. It is not a fancy looking place and there is no pool or that sort of thing but if you need a place to sleep in NYC it isn't bad.
