“Location, Location , Location.”

Great location, close to times square and theatre district. Public transport easily accessible. We had a front room which was slightly noisy but it is New York Times Square. Staff were very helpful. Great Value for money

“Overnight in Manhattan”

Fantastic location, small but comfortable room. Found a previous guest's hair in the shower but other than that the room was great for New York and not as small as I'd feared. The lobby of the hotel is having work done but being in Manhattan presumably you won't spend much time hanging around the lobby anyway. Lifts were fine and staff at front desk were very knowledgeable, young and switched on so made checking in/out and other interactions very easy. They also printed a voucher for my airport transfer free of charge which for a Manhattan hotel I thought was unusually decent. Given it's location, the fact that everything worked fine and room was not totally tiny I'd definitely stay here again if the price is the same.

This is an excellent hotel. I feel like I am staying in a European pension whenever I stay at the hotel St. James---and that is a high compliment. The only negative is that guests have no thermostat control in their rooms. But that is not really that bothersome---again, that makes the stay seem even more like a european experience. There is wi-fi, rooms are clean, staff is helpful and the hotel is located minutes away from several subway stops. You can hear the ruckus of times square from your hotel, but that is what makes it great NYC experience. I will always stay here!

I have been to New York many times and this is one of my favorite hotels! The location is perfect! The staff is very friendly and the rooms are large and clean! I will definitely continue to stay at the St. James on my future visits!

I booked a flight from Cleveland to NY 4 months in advance and selected the hotel based on its closeness to Times Square and its price in comparison to the other hotels that I was given as a choice. The reviews on th the hotel were decent but when I finally arrived and spent my 3 days in NY I realized that I could not have made any better of choice. It closeness to everything was great and the hotel itself was more than acceptable. The staff were helpful in any situation that I needed them. As Arnold said, "I'll be back"

No frills hotel but clean and great location. 2 convenient delis/cafes next door. VERY close to Times Square and subway access. Hot water in shower difficult to regulate. We would absolutely stay there again the next time we're in NY.

“great hotel for family bargain”

It seems to me the price can't be beat for the quality and location. One elevator was out of service and the other was very slow but that bothered me and my children very little. Our room was much larger than I expected. The hot water was inconsistent but sufficient. We walked to Lion King from it and it was very convenient to the major museums, park, etc. I would definitely stay there again.

“VERY GOOD”

The St James Hotel is situated about 20 paces from Times Square. A safe area, brightly lit and busy. Convenient to the subway and information centre. The staff were extemely helpful and friendly. On our last day, we were not due to leave until 1pm and were going to use the Hotel lockers at a cost of $5.00 each, as checking-out time was 12pm. However, the receptionist was more than happy to allow us to check out later. The reception area is welcoming, with armchairs and a large seating area and public toilets for the residents. Our room was large and comfortable,with plenty of drawer and cupboard space and loads of towels and a TV. No hairdryer or safe in the room, but this wasn't a problem. We were on the 6th Floor, overlooking the road at the front of the hotel. This was very noisy at night, but after the first night, I wore earplugs and got a good nights sleep. Warm and cosy. The reviews I had read mentioned the deli next door, as the hotel doesn't offer any amenities. The deli is a typical New York deli you see on the TV, where all the businessmen and women get there egg and bacon rolls with all flavours of coffee for breakfast. We started our day here every morning.
