“Definitelly will go back!”

Probably one of the best choices for on the budget and more than decent lodging in Mid-Manhattan. It is really within walking distance to major tourist attractions and/or public transportation. If you plan on mainly seeing NYC and just spending the night (do not care about the view) in an acceptable hotel with responsive personnel, look no further!

“New York City Gem, With Everything Around the Corner”

I come from a town of 250,000, and had low expectations because the price was just above a hostel-type place where you have to share a bathroom. I found a very elegant room with high cielings and crown molding, marble bathroom and really helpful staff and cleaning people at all hours of the night, every single request was met quickly. I felt very safe, loved the reading room, their books, and the accesss to the internet meant I didn't have to risk bringing my laptop. Black tie service from everyone, great location to catch a taxi, bus or subway. Ate at the cafe next door quite a few times. I'm very tall and found the shower very comfortable. Even after we checked out, we had a problem with the taxi and they helped out with the help we were asking for. Next time, I'll pay extra and have them get a taxi for me, then I won't feel stranded. What is the downside? The view is a brick wall and you have to crook your neck to see the sky, but that's true in a lot of New York. It has narrow hallways, but if you're used to New York, that's what you get. This place is a clean and elegant beauty with staff who take pride in keeping it that way. Thanks so much for giving us small townies a great experience in New York City!

“Excellent value”

Great value! Hotel was less than two blocks from Empire State Bulding and very convenient for subway routes. The staff were friendly upon arrival and departure and were very helpful in between. The room was very clean, and while the view of the back alley wasn't good, we were really only looking for a comfortable, clean bed. Nice, clean, manhattan hotel without the high price tag.

“what a surprise!”

We were very pleased with this hotel. It was safer than the big ones we have stayed in as the reception desk was by the elevator. The staff were friendly and helpful. The fridge in the room was a bonus as was the coffee shop next door. It is ideally situated for Macy's, Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. We felt it was very good value for money and would definitely go back.

Très satisfait scar à proximité de tout : commerces, station métro, "brasserie" Silo juste en face pour petit-déjeuner et plus (excellent et abordable !). Accès Internet... Seul bémol, l'accueil de jour minimum et peu affable. Le soir c'était beaucoup mieux. Chambre sur l'arrière obtenue et très calme. A conseiller !

Hotel location ideal. Checked in quickly with no problems. Hotel was bright and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. 4th floor room was small but clean and bright. housekeeping cleaned room everyday. Linen and towels changed regularly.Handy little fridge. No view from window - but plus side of that was no noise at night and could open window. Last time i stayed in NY (different hotel) there was construction going on outside window all through night. Looking forward to returning to NY and will definately try to get booked back at Grand Union Hotel. Definately would recommend to anyone looking for a clean comfy hotel near Empire State Building.

“Very Impressed.”

This hotel was is situated in an excellent part of Manhattan, a few minutes walk from the Empire State Building, underground and shopping area. The hotel very clean and staff very friendly, the rooms were very comfortable with TV Fridge and Ironing Board, next door to the hotel is the Captains Cafe which do excellent breakfasts and meals. Overall we would definately recommend this hotel.

“Fantastic Value”

I was a little sceptical when I booked this hotel due to its cheap price and fantastic location. But once I got there I was very pleased, the hotel is very clean, staff friendly and in a very convenient location. The rooms aren't huge, but its New York, you can't expect a massive room, and there is really so many more interesting things to do than sit in the hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good quality cheap hotel.

“Great Mid-Town Hotel”

Blindly made this reservation and was very pleasantly surprised! Short walk to Penn Station, great little breakfast place off the lobby - $3.95 for a breakfast sandwich in Manhattan!! There were four tralvelling in my party and we shared a quad room that was quite comfortable. Would certainly go back - great location!
