“Better when construction finished”
Clean, good location. Expensive in December and the hotel is undergoing significant renovation. Probably charming when it's all through.
“Nicely appointed; will visit once renovation complete”
Very nice hotel but with a lobby renovation going on when I arrived and no restaurant as a result. So I walked somewhere for a lovely dinner (Duo, on Madison), but will visit again if the rates are right and the lobby is done.
“Well located.”
The hotel was in a convenient location and although it was undergoing repairs we were well taken care of. The service was good overall. Did not like the private cab service one doorman set up for us as we ended up paying 2.5 times the price of a yellow cab. The doorman obviously got his cut! The regular cabs are fast and reasonable. Don't fall for this scam. The rooms are certainly small, but they were clean and updated. I would love to see the hotel once all renos are completed as I'm sure the lobby will be attractive. I did notice that in some establishments they add the tip automatically and of course, I only noticed once I'd paid additional tips twice. This was not the case at the hotel though. Oh yes, fly with Cathay Pacific if you can as the service and food are excellent and it offers the only direct flight from Vancouver to New York, non-stop!
“Could easily see myself going back there”
It's a very nice, small hotel. Quiet place comparing to some places I have been in New York. Even if they were doing some renovations in the lobby, it didn't bother us in any way and we appreciated the little breakfast snacks they pût togheter for our convenience. The people working in the hotel were also very Nice and helpful.
“not impressed”
There is a renovation in hotel, the loby is very tiny. however that is not what caused my rating 3; the main reason for that is the service of front desk staff. it seems the problem with electronic keys is quite frequent, during our check in 2 people were requesting to reprogram the key. it happens to me in one morning too. when i came to the desk, there was another guest with the same problem. as people go to the breakfest in a morning, typically nobody takes walet of purse to the breakfast room in hotel. the photo ID is required to get key reprogrammed. It is perfectly understandible to have such request, but what is not acceptable is the fact that after your identity was checked by address and phone the key is not reprogrammed, but guest just sent to its room, basically i was told the key's issue is taken care of when it was not. the problem still existed and i was requested to show the ID to hotel person once the room will be opened by that person. Everything together took 30 min. I think it should have been not only easier, but more importantly more honestly to send somebody to verify identity in a room from a begining.
“Hotel Chandler too small!”
Have stayed here before and was ok. Went back a second time and came to the conclusion that we would not be back. Hotel lobby was under renovation and we were not aware of this at time of booking. Also the rooms are too small and the bathroom is even smaller. The deal breaker here was the shower. They only have a rainhead shower and do not have a regular shower head. Much better hotels for the same money in NYC.
“A Little Gem in the Heart of NYC!”
Even though the lobby was undergoing renovation, the ambience is wonderful for a tiny hotel. The room, while small, showed the best space planning I've seen. Luxury towels & bed linens. Super flat screen TV. Turndown service. Wine & cheese hour (with a very nice chardonnay) and breakfast pastry and outstanding coffee in the a.m. We'll be back!
“Super kind and helpful team”
Hotel Chandler is going through renovations, so the hotel will be even better shortly. The team was very kind and considerate with me (late arrival) and were very accommodating given all the work they had to go through because of works in the hotel. Breakfast and afternoon snacks were offered complimentary PLUS a nice bottle of Californian wine. The room was spotless and everything functioned perfectly. I wish I had had a bit more space besides the closet but I still had enough room for everything. Besides that, all perfect. I had the opportunity to interact with the hotel team and everybody was super and genuinely nice. I appreciated that. Location is also very convenient for work in midtown or wondering around in the Flatiron and Chelsea districts, which are full of restaurants, bars and parks. Hope you will enjoy as I did!
“Staying here if I ever get a chance to go back to NYC!”
Even though the hotel was in the middle of renovation, I was still very impressed.!! Plus, the hotel gave nice amenities (i.e. free continental breakfast) to compensate. The location was awesome!! The room (junior suite) was more spacious than I expected. Also, the staff was courteous and quite helpful.
“Great Boutique for a Great Price”
The staff could not have been more friendly and more helpful, and the hotel was a perfect place to stay for a visit... Wonderful location, wonderfully economical. And the service alone made this a place I will definitely return to.
