“Good times on the square”

Excellent hotel...but undergoing changes by new management. Hopefully it keeps up its experience with these new managers!

Area recommendations

New travelers to New York...pay the extra and stay at a time square hotel! It makes the whole city accessible until you get use to it!

Shopping

Harlem has awesome shopping at affordable pricing you can get to it by tour bus and the outlet near Deer park is good to but that one is a 1 hour subway ride! But it is worth it and safe!

“This is the the place to stay !!!!!!”

This was mine and my wife's second stay in the city. I stayed here for 1 reason and 1 reason only..... The reviews. And let me tell you, I can't find 1 Negative thing to say about this place!!! Yes, you are in the heart of times square , yes you are a few blocks from all the shows, yes , there are great restraunts super close. The rooms are very spacious. We had a king size bed, super comfy mattress and pillows. Huge tv, big bathroom. Even though it's CRAZY busy out in the street it's quiet as can be inside. The door men are polite( must show your room key after 8 pm). The maids Always greet you and very polite. Oh, and the chocolate chip cookies at check in are scrumptious. Listen, if you have never been to new York and are touristing like we were this stay made everything perfect. We had the breakfast plan , and what a great buffet , cooked to order waffles, omlettes, and great servers every day. We stayed at the plaza last year, and yes it was very nice. But the walk back after the shows is longer . Don't let the price or the name fool you.

“Decent rooms for it's location”

You have to want the congestion of times square to stay here. Overall it's a nice hotel and rooms are moderately sized for it's location. I would advise against staying in any of the 01 rooms. We were in 3501 and had to deal with elevator noises among the regular city noises.

“Bucket List Christmas Trip to the Big Apple”

The bellman were awesome. They always found us a cab in a prompt manner. They made sure we knew where we were going. Their directions were always given with a smile even when they had to repeat themselves. The hotel suite was great. We had 5 ladies in the room and never felt cramped. The bathroom was large enough to allow two people at a time to get ready and and outside mirror/sink/counter made it easier for the rest to shift around. It is located in the heart of the Time Square and within walking of 5th Ave, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Macy's, and other sights.

Getting around

Take the subway or a taxi. Do not try to drive around the city. We walked most of the time.

Shopping

The Macy's is amazing. All the stores on 5th Ave. were terrific. The employees were great and we never felt like we didn't belong, even in the designer stores.

“Great location”

The hotel was walking distance to many NY attactions. Because the lobby was above street level, we could escape from the hussle and bussle. The restaurant was good, but somewhat pricey for a midwesterner. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful.

Area recommendations

Times Square, because there is a lot to see and do.

Getting around

We spent too much for the "hop on, hop off" bus. Take a chance and use the subways.

Dining

Get out of the hotel for meals, you can find food in your price range by just walking around.

“Ready to book for next year!!!”

Can't stop telling family and friends about this wonderful hotel. I booked 2 rooms for our annual trip to the Big Apple. We all were very pleased with the hotel, staff and rooms. We will be looking at this hotel for next year.

“Very convenient. In the heart of Broadway hustle and bustle.”

Hotel staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. All requests met with quick and efficient response. Warm cookies are great and plentiful. Don't expect quiet and serenity in the lobby as this is a prime tourist spot and tourists can be a little noisy. Check-in and Check-out can look crowded, but the staff handles matters quickly and efficiently so things move along well. This is a very good NYC location.

Area recommendations

Midtown Manhattan is generally recommended. Try the Hilton Millenium in lower Manhattan for one of the best views from a high floor.

Getting there

Use the Air Train and connecting subway system whenever possible when arriving from area airports. It only looks complicated, but really isn't at all.

Getting around

Use the subway system whenever possible. Get a subway map at any station kiosk.

What to pack

For a tourist-type trip be sure everyone packs only what they can handle and carry by themselves. Backpacks are great for adults and kids. Big suitcases are a nuisance that should be avoided.

“Best location”

This is the second time we have stayed here and will definelty stay again. Yiu cannot beat the location and having the seperate seating area is a HUGE plus for a hotel in Times Square. Can't wait to return!
