“An excellent NYC/Airport hotel”

We were searching for a hotel close to JFK but toward the city. Jamaica Clarion is in Jamaica/Queens barely off I-678, 10 minutes from JFK and LGA and in sight of a subway station. We had a pleasant saty in the hotel, found good restaurants and other services nearby, and had a wonderful afternoon in the park at Flushing, again only minutes away. Highly recommended; we will go back.

“Best hotel at this rates in NY”

The hotel was new and clean.Our room was comfortable.The location isn't the best place in NY but really close to the airport.It is 2 blocks to the subway station and although it is not a good neighbourhood, is safe to walk to the hotel from the station at night. The people at the front desk were really friendly and helpful. It is a nice and clean hotel. I highly recommend.

“Brilliant base for a Manhattan break”

This was our first trip to NY so I was not too sure where to stay, this hotel already had really good reviews so we took a punt on it. We met some Americans on the plane on the way over who told us some horror stories about the surrounding area (Jamaica), which worried us a little. This proved to be unfounded, we were sensible and did not walk the streets in the middle of the night, but we felt safe enough to go to the nearby McDOnalds and Wendy's (just accross the street!). The subway is literally 100 yards down the road (the 'E' line) and the train stopped everywhere we had planned to go. It took about 30 mins to get to 5th Ave, 45 mins to Ground Zero. We had a brilliant time and the hotel was ideal, the staff where very friendly and always happy to help. the room was cleaned every day and the bed was very comfy. The 42" plazma TV was a nice touch too! Breakfast was basic but more than enough, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit and dough nuts! I would definately recommend the hotel (It was more like a Travel Lodge) to any one planning a visit to NY and not wanting to pay Manhattan prices!

“Good place to stay, bad place to park, ugly surroundings”

The hotel was good, clean and comfortable. The parking in the alley on the side of the hotel was bad, only about 10 spaces for the entire hotel. There is a train station 2 blocks away but unfortunately there are lots of people loitering outside of the station which made me feel a little uncomfortable I entered. The hotel should really invest into more parking.....but for the price, it was good.

Fantastic hotel, close to subway - in manhatten in 30 mins. Lots of stores, restaurants and gas station close by...

“Great deal in NYC”

This hotel is across the street from a subway station, making it very convenient when traveling around the city. The staff was both friendly and helpful. The breakfast served offered several different options, making it easy for people with dietary restrictions to find a suitable choice. The rooms are a good size and clean. The bed was very comfortable and we had the choice of either down pillows or a down alternative. Free WiFi was a bonus. The only down side to this hotel is the neighborhood around it. Some travelers may feel uncomfortable in the area. We had no trouble with our neighbors however.

“Good hotel, but not in a very good area.”

Jamacia N.Y. is not the best area to be in, but the hotel is really close to the subway station, 200 yards approximately. It is a good 2 1/2 star hotel. Took about 45 minutes to get to Times Square on the subway.

“Super Hotel, challenging neighborhood”

Very nice furniture, bedspread and bathroom, flat screen tv, clean, friendly personnel. The neighborhood is very vibrant but seems like it could well be challenging (read: dangerous) after dark, thus the low prices. I'd suggest taking a cab directly there from the train station which is a few long blocks away.
