Property Amenities
The focal point of the lobby is a three-story waterfall wall; water flows over a vintage photograph of the site's original 1904 hotel. That hotel featured a 30-foot, mezzanine-level, Tiffany domed skylight, which was restored in 2005.
Although it's high-style contemporary, the lobby pays homage to the original hotel's Beaux-Arts style. Faux-suede columns protruding slightly from walls replicate stone blocks on the building's outside corners. Venetian-stucco walls include hand-stenciled panels. Cylinders of sheer fabric sheath crystal chandeliers. Recessed theatrical lighting illuminates all. Varying styles of music play in the background.
A business center includes two computers offering high-speed Internet access (surcharge). The hotel has 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space for up to 350 guests. The Carlton hotel offers six private meeting rooms with windows in addition to four event spaces including the original grand ballroom of the Seville. Banquet services are available from Millesime restaurant.
This New York hotel is entirely nonsmoking.

The Carlton Hotel offers 316 residential-style guestrooms with complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access. Beds dressed with Frette Italian linens and down comforters have silk drapes at their heads and matching upholstered headboards. Custom mahogany furniture includes wardrobes and armoires with decorative inlays. Small desks come with plush-fabric chairs.
Rooms also include crown molding, formal window treatments with heavy silk drapes, brocade-like accent walls at beds' heads, and gilt-framed black-and-white architectural-detail photographs. Tan-and-brown-marble bathrooms with gold fixtures include silk shower curtains for shower/tub combinations (or stall showers without tubs) and Molton Brown toiletries.
42-inch flat-panel TVs offer pay movies and video check-out. Clock radios have MP3 docking stations.

Millesime - A 1904 skylight and extraordinary mosaic floor accent this seafood brasserie serving classic French seafood dishes featuring fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from local waters and nearby farms. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Bar Millie - Across a 30-foot glass bridge is a reservations-only cocktail bar serving artisan cocktails.
Salon Millesime - Serving French- and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine by Laurent Manrique, and a fine selection of wines by the glass, Salon Millesime features live music and a state-of-the-art sound system.
Lobby Bar - Located just off of the lobby with forty-foot ceilings, two-story waterfall, and crystal chandeliers is a dimly lit saloon featuring a mahogany bar dating back 100 plus years to the original hotel.
Recreation
Guests of The Carlton Hotel enjoy access to the hotel's 24-hour fitness facility. The 800-square-foot facility includes cardio and strength-training machines with TVs and MP3 docks. Yoga mats, free weights, and fitness balls are also available. Disposable earbuds are complimentary.

“Super hotel in Midtown Manhattan”
Hotel reception and service upon arrival was friendly and helpful. We immediately made use of the bar for refreshment and that too was friendly with an excellent selection of beers from around the world. Room was clean and comfortable if not overly spacious. Safe would not work upon arrival, but a quick call to reception had it fixed within minutes on a Saturday evening....great service we thought! Restaurant served beautiful food in a relaxed atmosphere. Location on Madison Avenue was very cental with the Empire State minutes away and many good restaurants and delicatessens nearby. Locality was fine and we felt you could walk around there alone at any time of day or night.
“Hôtel Carlton Manhattan”
L'hôtel style art déco est situé proche du célèbre building Flatiron, donc à 15 mn de Times Square et 25 mn de Central Parc à pied. Deux lignes de métro différentes à 2 blocs de l'hôtel soit 5 mn. Accueil à l'hôtel rapide et correct mais, il vaut mieux parler anglais. Check-out très rapide. Chambre superbe (dble/dble) très grande pour NY. Très jolie salle de bains avec excellents produits Molton Brown. Propreté impeccable. Un bémol concernant le petit-déjeuner en chambre. Oubliez, c'est hors de prix...pour 1 petit-déjeuner continental avec 2 tous petits croissants, 1 assiette de pancakes, 2 jus d'oranges et du café la note avec les taxes et la charge pour le room service...$ 57 ! Au coin de l'hôtel délicieux donuts si vous les aimez ou un déli, dans son jus, où vous pourrez déguster un solide breakfast à l'américaine pour moins de $ 10 à deux mais le cadre est différent et il faut accepter de sortir du cadre aseptisé de l'hôtel.
“Very good value in NYC”
My room was available several hours early, when I arrived in the city. Check in was very fast. The room was small, as I had expected, because I booked the least expensive room with just a double bed (I was alone), but it was very attractive, had ample hanging space and a full sized desk and large flat screen tv and minibar, and the bathroom was huge, about 1/3rd the size of the room itself. Service was fast and cordial. There were no bad surprises. The hotel was busy. The lobby is lovely. The neighborhood is excellent and convenient to mass transit.
“Good location, walking distance to everything and some peace at night”
The hotel is located on Madison ave. It is around the corner from Empire state building and Macy's department store. The location is in a quiet area-something that is welcomed in New York if you want to have a peaceful sleep as I imagine the areas around times square are prett noisy! The hotel had Molton Brown toiletries which was a nice treat and althought room was not massive it was not cramped or anything either so it was just rioght and the bed was really comfortable. I think the hotel had recently been refurbished as it seems new and well maintained.

Loved it - was there for a wedding and used the hotel as it was convenient and came with a package that included transport. All fell into place well and would recommend you to others. The plus was the weather which is always a plus.
“My New First Choice in New York”
I was so impressed with the Carlton. My single room was small but impeccable. The water pressure was a bit weak in the shower and the thermostat needed frequent adjustment. Pay per view offers movies still in theaters. The front desk staff were friendly and attentive and the concierge was charming and very well informed, (I am former NY resident). Definitely do take advantage of the hotel restaurant, Country (terrible name), it is truly 'fine dining'. I noted that the in-room dining prices were the same for food served in the dining room, not inflated. The restaurant has an elegant dining room and a more informal, but lovely romantic bistro with two bars. Only gripe here - I was seated at the "woman-dining-alone' table, ie, in the hinterland, even though it was not prime time and there were plenty of open tables.
“Extremely Impressed”
As stated, we were extremely impressed with the Carlton on Madison Ave. For our business we have traveled to New York City many times on extended stays and have not found a hotel we absolutely had to or wanted to go back to till now. This hotel is highly recommended by us. Every employee we experienced were nice, charming, helpful and very professional. In addition to the pleasantries and Classic New York charm, the space and interior design was appealing and top of the line. For New York City the rooms were of normal size, and you could maneuver easily with more than the normal amenities. We also ha a colleague who opted for suite and those were very nice as well, but one would be happy in a traditional room. The food at both restaurants is very delicious and we also recommend trying the champagne bar with so many options to choose from. The Carlton on Madison Avenue is definitely a treasure in New York City and we would be very surprised if anyone had a bad experience there.

The hotel is gorgeous and very central. The lounge and amenities are wonderful. We loved having 24 hour wireless internet. The classic room is a little small...will definitely return but to a larger room.

We recently stayed at the Carlton because it was convenient to visit our daughter at FIT. The hotel was very quiet and clean. We upgraded to a larger room than we had originally booked. The queen room was a little too small for us. There are several nice restaurants in the area and the gym is very close by too.
