“Oldest Landmark Hotel in NYC”
We happened to get a good deal at the Algonquin, so decided to try it. It was a wonderful experience- the staff were very friendly and outgoing, the lobby was wonderfully comfortable, the room was smallish but very useable, and the location was very convenient. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
“Great location, wonderful service”
There couldn't have been a better place to stay in mid-town NYC. My sister and I came in to town for a long weekend getaway, and we were able to check in when we arrived early. The staff tried to anticipate all our needs. Everyone was so gracious. The room was quite clean, and the beds are so comfortable!
“Friendly Staff and good location”
Even though our room was not large it was immaculately maintained. Good lighting in the bathroom. Very good value. Lobby is very homey and comfortable.
“very nice”
great lobby, comfortable room, bed and bath excellent bar, but tvs should be removed from the bar
“nice ambiance”
nice historic hotel...rooms were simple and clean, lobby was fun and the service was exceptional.
“Great Hotel/Great Location”
We've stayed at The Algonquin before but they have updated rooms and lobby in last year or so. Employees are always extremely friendly! Rooms are all remodeled, king size bed is soooo comfortable! Continental breakfast is just right. Can't beat the location (right on 44th Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue). Close to everything. Lobby is fun place to people watch. Discount for parking in garage across the street.
“Great hotel”
The Algonquin is a lovely old hotel, very well maintained. Its location is perfect for theatregoers. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the concierge. The rooms, though not large, are adequate, and the beds are really comfortable. We'd definitely stay there again.
“Like a few moments in a William Powell movie....historically elegant.”
Wonderful hotel. Very happy to see the whole world, even in large cosmopolitan cities like NYC, is not dominated by chain hotels. This is a throw back to a more personalized and less corporate time. Truly enjoyed everything about the Algonquin.
“Literature & Location in one!”
The Algonquin Hotel is famous for it's Round Table restaurant, which was home in the 1920's to the New York literati such as Dorothy Parker, as well as being the birthplace of the New Yorker magazine (still published today, and free to all guests). The hotel itself is situated in midtown Manhattan in the heart of the 5th Avenue shopping experience. Times Square is a couple of blocks away, and famous tourist shopping destinations such as Bloomingdale's and Macy's are within easy walking distance. Central Park is also walkable, although it may take some time as you stop to look in all the 5th Avenue boutique stores! There is a certain old-world charm to the helpfulness and courtesy of the staff - if you are stuck for something different to do or eat, the concierge has an encyclopedic knowledge of New York! Rooms are clean and modern, while still maintaining the 1920's feel, although upgrade to a Queen or Suite if your budget allows, as the standard double rooms are a little cramped. If you're tired of hotel chains and looking for a hotel that offer style and elegance at an affordable price, the Algonquin is hard to beat!
“An excellent value”
A midtown classic
