"Great Hotel in the middle of the French Quarter"
Once again (I was there earlier this year) we had a great time. The hotel always impresses and there's no other place I'd stay while in NOLA. The staff is friendly and the hotel and rooms are fresh and clean. The Holiday décor only added to it's charm, but I was there in late March and the place is always beautiful.

"Beautiful inn & great location!"
My husband and I spent one night here while in New Orleans to see Trans Siberian Orchestra. We got a great deal on the king deluxe room. The Quarter is a beautiful place on its own, the inn was no exception. Very friendly staff. The room was so cozy. Great view. Parking might irritate some people. It was recommended we use a parking lot 4 blocks away for $20/night but miraculously we found a spot outside the inn when we returned from the show. We are definitely going to stay there again.

"Great long romantic birthday weekend!"
We LOVED LOVED LOVED staying here, came for my birthday weekend. Hotel/mansion is absolutely beautiful and elegant. Great neighborhood, close to everything; Frenchman St., Bourbon St., Canal Street - all walkable. Hotel staff helpful without being overbearing. Small fridge for water, drinks, etc. Small room, but again, elegant. Coffee, Cucumber & mint water, apples always available. Wine and Cheese hour (we missed this, but nice it was offered). Next time we are in New Orleans, we will definitely staff at Melrose. THANK YOU!

It's a very charming and quaint hotel, a great value for the price. Seems that renovations are still ongoing, but that did not bother me at all. I'd definitely come back and stay here again the next time I'm in town.

"Nice hotel, near everything in New Orleans."
Great place. Near landmark restaurants, French market, Jackson Square, and street cars. I didn't see one named "Desire". It has my highest recommendation.

"Great Hotel and Great Location"
I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. It is in a great spot, with many attractions well within walking distance. It has a very nice staff that always answers my questions correctly and politely. It is currently under renovation until February 2015, but the construction does not get in the way and the new rooms are very nice.

"Best location with old charm"
Located at the corner of French qtr, it was best location to hit both - near old and new town. All in walking distance. Hotel was clean but old as expected. breakfast served was very minimal - just coffee and some toast and pastry.

"Lovely vintage hotel"
Bear in mind this is a building built in the early 1800's so the floors creak and the stairs crack a bit but that just adds to the charm. The court yard is lovely and the rooms have very old double doors with interior shutters as do the windows. The bathrooms are modern though! The staff was super helpful and carried our luggage up the stairs for us. When I asked about local eating establishments, it was late when our flight got in and we were were tired they told us of a local restaurant the even had free delivery! We had a yummy dinner in our room. No elevator due to the age but I'm sure they could put you on the mail floor if that is a problem. We enjoyed our stay and delighted in the old, old building!

"Great quiet hotel in the Quarter"
Great location, quiet but close to everything you go to the French Quarter for (i.e., noisy stuff). Stayed in one of the courtyard rooms across the street from the main hotel, great room (and great wifi service, contrary to other reports). Desk and housecleaning staff people were all terrific.
