Great Location - close to the action, but quiet

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Pros: Staff, location, free breakfast perfect for families, free happy hour, rooms and bathrooms
Cons: Extra towels for family groups
Location: short walk to the French Quarter, Aquarium, Riverwalk
Short walk to the French Quarter. We stayed with 2 children. Staff was accommodating and very kind to visually impaired older person. Rooms were comfortable and luxurious.

Pleasantly Pleased

Posted 9-Apr-2015
Pros: High ceilings in the rooms, 6th floor pool- heated for comfort, family friendly, safe location
Cons: The only slight complaint is the outside noise level from the street. It is expected because of the location, but maybe some thicker windows or drapes
We were very pleased with our stay. Hotel was clean, everyone was friendly, even the lobby construction was done in an unobtrusive manner. I was a little wary of the mandatory valet, but that ended up being a bonus. We rarely used our car anyway, as everything was within 1-2 miles walking distance and New Orleans is very pedestrian friendly.

Excellent hotel only a few short blocks from the French Quarter. BIG rooms. ONLY complaint is some rooms overlook one of the streetcar lines and as such they can be bit noisy during the streetcar hours of operation. Otherwise an outstanding stay for our family of five in every respect.

Great stay in NOLA!

Posted 7-Apr-2015
Pros: Convenience, cleanliness, staff hospitality
Cons: Extend breakfast times
Location: I could go on forever about what you can do nearby in NOLA, but I'm sure you can research it yourself!
Booking a hotel in New Orleans can be a real crap-shoot: you usually have to sacrifice something (i.e., cleanliness, price) for location. So, imagine how surprised I was when the Drury was everything and then some! It was very clean, beautifully decorated and located downtown NOLA just a couple blocks from Canal Street. The staff was very helpful and friendly - the manager personally helped us when we had difficulties with the elevator (due to our stupidity, not the elevator's malfunction). Parking was the most reasonable of all the hotels I researched ($25/night). As with all Drury Inn stays, there is a complimentary breakfast, which suffices until you can hit a cajun restaurant. The only draw back that I can come up with is the unusually poor, fluorescent lighting over the sink in the bath area (wow!! does it do a number on your looks!!) and maybe the (soon-to-be-finished) rehabbing work around the hotel - but that didn't really bother me since we couldn't hear a thing in our awesome room. I would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel and will DEFINITELY stay there again.

Very nice hotel in NOLA business district

Posted 31-Mar-2015
Pros: Location; happy hour; staff.
Cons: Can't really think of anything.
Location: See the "Experience" section above.
March 2015. We stayed at this Drury Inn for one night after spending three nights in the Hyatt Regency New Orleans where I had a conference. This Drury is a very nice hotel. While it is older, it is very clean and well-kept. In fact, I think it rivaled the Hyatt for room condition. The location is really good - it's within easy walking distance (and I'm no long-distance walker!) of the French Quarter, without all the craziness that staying at an FQ hotel can offer. It's also within walking distance of street car lines, Harrah's Casino, and the river front. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. When we stayed they were offering a "happy hour" with heavy snacks - a person who didn't want to go out to eat at one of the wonderful New Orleans restaurants could easily make a meal here. The drink tickets were also generous - three drinks for free. The morning breakfast was also substantial - more than the waffles/cold cereal/boiled eggs that many motels offer. We were very pleased with our stay.

Room booked not as promised on arrival

Posted 30-Mar-2015
Pros: staff and room
Cons: Providing room that was booked and not placing customers near construction
Location: Great location. a few blocks from the french quarter and St. Charles trolly stop right out front door.
Checking into hotel room i booked was not available (King) and they tried to put me in room with two beds. Not acceptable so they placed me in King over the lobby area that was under construction. 8:00 AM sawing and hammering began. Sad because room was very nice and clean and staff friendly. What should be a high rating for this hotel i only can give 3.5.
