Great hotel close to the action but not the noise.

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, staff, service, quality of room
Cons: Cannot really think of anything that needs improvement. Hotel is doing a great job all around.
This hotel is in a location that is in easy walking distance to all the locations one would want to see in New Orleans, or at least the trolley stop to take one to them. Even though it's close, however, this hotel is far enough from Bourbon Street to escape the noise and other negative aspects of the tourist crowds. Our room was an excellent value for the money and the staff were amazing, very polite, friendly, and helpful. The one time we asked for something we got it within minutes. The decor is tasteful and the entire hotel was scrupulously clean. We were exceedingly pleased with everything about our stay and will definitely be coming back when we're next in New Orleans.

This hotel is in the perfect location. The only con is the 38 dollar per night charge for parking.

Newly redone, nice hotel one block off Bourbon Street. Nice room, easy and friendly check-in and can walk to eveything in the quarter.

Updated hotel, but not good for relaxation

Posted 28-Jun-2014
Pros: Cleanliness of room; proximity to restaurants
Cons: Options for relaxing at hotel (i.e. bathtubs, pool); price of additional services (i.e. breakfast, pool, valet)
Location: Deanie's Seafood right across the street is fabulous! Also within a block of Acme Oyster House and several other restaurant options.
While this hotel was very modern, up-to-date, and clean, and the staff were super friendly, it did not have the amenities we were looking for on our trip. We were looking for a relaxing few days exploring the French Quarter. The room had a shower only; no tub, preventing me from getting my chance to relax in a bath in the evenings after walking around the city. There is also no traditional pool. It shares a pool with the Ritz Carlton--the type where you swim against the current to do laps, and there is a charge per person per day to use it. We really wanted to just sit and relax in a pool or hot tub at the hotel. Valet (the only option for parking) was also more expensive than we have experienced at other hotels of similar quality. If you are looking for just a modern, clean place to sleep and easy access to lots of restaurants and other sights of the French Quarter, this hotel will probably suit you just fine. If you plan to spend more time at the hotel, it is not the best option, though.

Almost a good experience

Posted 25-Jun-2014
Pros: Location is good. Rooms with two King beds.
Cons: The layout of the hotel is old and confusing. You have to use two separate elevators to get to the floors with rooms on them.
Location: About two blocks from Bourbon Street and the heart of the Quarter. Lots of restaurants and places to walk to.
We have stayed at many hotels in New Orleans over the years. Because this was the only one I could find with two King beds, I booked our two night stay here. Our first room was on the top floor of the hotel. It was smaller than I had expected and had absolutely NO view. I mean, the only view out of the only window was of a room across the way. The rooms are set up in a square around each other and all face each other with an open area in the middle. Very claustrophobic. This room had unusually loud hum coming from the bathroom fan which we later learned was due to the air conditioning unit being located on the roof. We were moved to a lower floor. Same view, less noise but wet carpet! There were several areas of carpet in the room that were wet. Not damp - wet. So, we again called the front desk to ask to be moved. They had no other rooms available so we stayed in that room the first night. We awoke to the sound of several women talking in the hallway right outside our door. When my husband opened the door to see who it was, he saw about five of the housekeeping staff, sitting on the floor, having a chat outside of our room! We were then moved to a new room on another floor with a VIEW. Not a good view, it was at the back side of the hotel looking out onto a pretty dismal part of the New Orleans, but at least it was a view. So over all, it was okay. I think if we'd be put in the 9th floor room at the beginning this would be a completely different review

Great location. Loved having a sitting area with mini bar and wet sink. Two TVA were awesome and the bathroom was spa joy and modern. Great value.

Nice hotel, close to Bourbon

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: Pleasant staff, GREAT location
Cons: The sliding doors in the room were a nice touch, but they offered little to no sound insulation for the bathroom or TV. They are also a little noisey
The hotel was very pleasant. I would have enjoyed a free pool facility, but the Ritz Carlton pool was available at $10 a day.
