“The Surprises of Going to NewOrleans during MardiG”

Some of my impression of the hotel is based on the events of Mardi Gras. We were taking a cruise out of New Orleans on a Sunday and came in the day before. This was one of the only hotels available that by the map seemed not too distant from the port and was reasonably priced. When checking in we related that we would want a cab the next day at noon to go to the port. The staff indicated that they had had a hard time reaching any cabs but would start then and get it set up for us. When we went to check out the next day at 11:30 no cab was set up and the same statement that because of MardiGras they had had a hard time getting cabs. We were five hours away from departure and probably seven miles from the port. How bad could it be right? Fortunately, someone elses cab showed up who had left. We grabbed it. The cabbie says to us as we get in, " If I had known you were going downtown to the port" I wouldn't have picked you up. He then went on to describe how impossible it is to get anywhere near anything because of the parades during MardiGras. And that what normally would be twenty minutes, he might hope to get there in three or four hours. Talk about raising our concerns. If I had understood or known any of this, I definitely would have paid the extra $100's of dollars to stay downtown and walk to the port. This hotel is excellent but don't use it for anything related to MardiGras!!!!

The room was definetly substandard.I have had much better rooms at this location

“Don't stay here!”

We booked the room 2 weeks in advance for a double bed. When we arrived, they told us that there were no double bed rooms available nor was there roll away beds. My friends had to sleep on the floor. They then upgraded us to a "suite" which was clearly just a larger room. On our last night of stay, we did receive a double bed room, after sleeping on the floor for 2 nights.
