Great Location, Hotel needs work.

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: Complimentary beach chairs; TV; Mini fridge; Terrace with patio furniture; Location; Wifi; On-site restaurant.
Cons: Hotel facilities needs major upgrades.
Location: 7 mile beach and Bourbon beach are walking distance. Margaritaville and Rick's Cafe just a short taxi away.
I was skeptical about this hotel after reading some reviews. The lady at the registration counter was very friendly. No deposit, no paperwork during check-in. The sheets on both beds were obviously unwashed, there were multiple food stains. Pillows were old and raggedy. There were no towels, washcloths, or soap until our second day (guess they forgot to restock from the last guests). There was a mini-fridge which was nice. The private terrace was great with nice patio chairs and table. There are cats everywhere, but that's fine, they're cute and keep rats away. Location is perfect, right on the beach with plenty bars, restaurants, and venders. Complimentary beach chairs was a plus. Housekeeping came by daily. Guests must keep in mind Jamaica's hotel star rating is not equivalent to the U.S. Unless you're planning on spending 100% of your vacation at the hotel, this place is just fine for what it's worth. It's a local hotel, not the Ritz.

Ok hotel great location

Posted 21-Mar-2015
The first room we saw just parking lot n security guard, only one outlet. The water in da room was cold. Bed and pillows was rock hard. We moved the second day and it was a lot better. The bed was squeaky, pillowcase was dirty, but overall the patio view of the garden was alot better. That was what made us stay the other two nights. The hotel was close to bourbon beach where they had great live bands and dj's. Afterwards there were street food that was the BEST I EVER HAD JERK CHICKEN FROM MR. SPICE WAS OFF DA HOOK. We went to the room to enjoy it and ended up walking back to see him for another jerk chicken. Overall I just love Negril

Has potential

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: The bathroom.
Quite expensive for the room level. Apparently we were going to be upgraded but arrived before rooms were ready. Convenient location to intercity busses and beach. Need to get a route taxi to get to Ricks Cafe and cliff divers but walkable distance to town centre and supermarket . Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Beware in shower if anyone turns a tap on.

You get what you pay for. Good location..

I almost always stay here because it's a good location. There is no FRILLS with this place. It's inexpensive, it's clean and the staff is really cool. The only issue I had was the bed was VERY VERY uncomfortable. We took the spread off the 2nd bed to try to make a padding but it didn't work. Every day we woke up with an achy back. Other than that it was cool.

Worst experience ever

Posted 9-Aug-2013 on Hotels.com
I was very displeased with my stay at the resort, everyday the lights go out and the AC don't work. I sleep in a hot room which was very uncomfortable, the sheets did change regularly and they limit the amount of bath towels per room, everyday I had to complained about having no lights to see and AC to keep cool. the hotel is terrible and no one cared of give a rats butt about the guest. My worst experience ever, I recommend no one to stay this resort

Great hotel on the beach

Posted 8-Apr-2013
Pros: The staff were very very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The buildings and rooms are a little old and could use some work.
Location: The location is fabulous, right on a perfect beach and close enough to town to walk if you don't want to pay for a taxi.
Yes this hotel is a bit old and dated but the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff were super helpful with everything from arranging trips for us to giving recommendations for places to eat. The fact that it is right on the beach is one of the reasons we booked and yes people on the beach will try to sell you everything imaginable but a polite no thank you usually sends them on their way. The beach is clean and well maintained with sun loungers for guests to use and a bar for drinks and a restaurant for food. The power did go out a couple of times and with it the water, but it came back within a couple of hours most times and was not a huge problem, this happens all over Jamaica, you don't notice in bigger hotels as they have backup generators. Overall I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would recommend it for everyone, it was great service at a reasonable price.
