Best advice would be to make sure you have weather/beach appropriate clothing for when you land and get changed right away. We didn't and when our room wasn't ready for check-in the wait was brutal because of it. If we had the proper clothes we would have taken a walk on the beach or dip in the pool while we waited. Otherwise though everything was pretty amazing.
The hotel is overall in great shape and the staff are all amazingly friendly and accommodating. Just be ready for a few things to happen on island time...aka sometimes they don't exactly rush to get things done. But after a couple days in paradise, you won't really care about the time anything takes anyways.
Couple tips - grab beach/pool towels when they're around as they go fast. Store them in your room through the day and just use them as needed and dry them on the balcony if they aren't covered in sand.
Bring an insulated coffee mug or cup to keep your drinks cool on the beach and so that you don't have to go back to the bar as often.
When you arrive try and book all your dinner times and things like water sports as they fill up quickly.
But again, all in all an amazing place with such friendly people. You'll enjoy every minute of escaping from life.
