"Excellent hotel and location"
I picked this hotel because it was centrally located and had had the Old World Charm I was lloking for ... and I was not disappointed! The staff were really friendly and the meal service (both room service and breakfast) were spot-on. The room service breakfast was the best we have ever had at any hotel in the world. The room was small, the bathroom 'bijou', the floor was eneven and creaked, the window was low but the charm was there in spades! This part of the hotel was built in the 1500's and people booking this hotel should be aware that it was not designed for the 21st Century tourist. The only down side to the whole experience was the matress as it was lumpy and had a dip in the middle. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

"Perfect hotel for location and history"
It was our first visit to Statford-Upon-Avon and we particularly wanted to stay in an historical buliding but within the town centre. The Hotel has been clevery modernised to still hold all the charm of the traditional building. Our room was superb, with a seperate lounge area, bedroom, office area and the bathroom was fully modernised. The commom areas were everything we had hoped for. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional and overall the hotel was excellent. We coulcn't recommend this hotel enough and will definately return.

"Nice hotel, close to everything."
Very nice hotel. Updated bathroom and gorgeous room. Beautiful views and walking distance to everything. The only problem is there is no elevator so you'll have to hike your bags up a flight of stairs if you're not on the first floor.

"Lovely riverside setting!"
First impressions were excellent! As you walked through the door everything was spotlessly clean, floor tiles gleamed, unusual wall displays, good quality furnishings, in fact everything was first class! When we reached the reception we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who explained where everything was, breakfast times etc., she asked if we needed help with our luggage, explained the car parking system and told us how to get to our room via a lift. We booked a King Room, which was on the first floor. First impressions were that it was a nice size room and was very clean, and so was the bathroom. The room was quite dark, but I don't think the dark blue carpet and dark blue curtains helped! There was plenty of lighting in the room though. The view from the window was the top of a large flat roof. The bed was comfortable and there was a choice of pillows. The breakfast was between 7am and 10am, we never had to queue at all. The buffet breakfast was excellent, we couldn't fault it! There was so much choice! The staff were cheerful and pleasant and worked with a smile on their face, and nothing was too much trouble for them. An added bonus at breakfast was the lovely riverside view, it was relaxing to watch the boats and the swans on the river. All in all I would say this hotel is well worth staying in. It is also in a nice central position. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return. O

"Alveston Manor, brilliant stay"
We have stayed at the Alveston Manor many times over the years and always enjoyed our stay. We were disappointed to discover that there is now a £5 parking charge (which covers a total stay). This is to prevent non guests from parking in the hotel, but the rooms are not cheap (the suites especially - it was a special occasion for us) and we felt that this could have been either hidden in the cost or a token given to guests to prevent them from being clamped by the independent policing company - bad show Macdonald Hotels! We stayed in the Queen Elizabeth Suite, which had been redecorated and updated since our last stay. As it is on its own in the grounds it is lovely and quiet, there are 2 rooms above the suite but we never heard any noise. In the past we have stayed in the standard rooms and found them to be acceptable. The breakfast is lovely with a great selection, we did not have any other meal in the restaurant as to our mind it is quite expensive and not to our taste, but others may not share that view. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we would definitely recommend this hotel and use it again.

"Great value guest house"
We were greeted with a warm welcome, when we arrived at The Croft during our stay in Stratford in August. The Guest House is conveniently situated just a 5-10 minutes walk to the river and town, and despite being located on a main road, which was busy during the day, at night there is hardly any traffic and therefore quite peaceful. Our room (room4) is located at the rear of the property, is furnished in keeping with the character of the house, and benefits from a newly refurbished en-suite. At breakfast there is a well presented selection of cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, toast, hot and cold drinks and a freshly cooked Full English.
