“Excellent hotel but let down by the location”
Excellent hotel but let down by the location Arrived after ten hours travelling to a warm and friendly welcome by the reception (the hotel is less than five minutes walk from the station) The room was clean and comfortable well up to the standard you would expect from the chain The hotel is located in a quiet residential side street in the shoe and bag district (next to the metro line) -- the room was notably quiet giving a good nights sleep The breakfast was of a good standard
“very good value”
the Mercure Napoli Garibaldi is a very good hotel, very near to the train station. The neighbourhood of piazza garibaldi is not great, but the hotel was excellent, the breakfast was exceptional, and the staff al very helpful. woud definitely stay there again. there is a small restaurant a street away caled Da Peppino which ghas amazing food, very very cheap.
“Mercure Napoli Garibaldi (Near Napoli Central)”
Great hotel with helpful friendly happy staff. Situated in very easy access to Napoli Central station but the hotel has great sound proofing so noise is not a problem. Very accessible to main street shopping and 10 minute walk to Marina. Bathroom good, bed nice and comfy. Carpet needs attention but would definitely stay again on our way back to Rome. Great value, highly recommended.
“If ever I'm on a short break in the area again- I'd definately use this hotel again.”
Whilst situated in a bit of a dingy back street, (we arrived by train after 10pm after a longish journey from the UK by plane - and train from Rome...so perhaps being a bit critical!), we really liked the hotel. Spotlessly clean, nice quiet room (no traffic noise and pretty good internal noise insulation), freindly helpful staff, Italian Footty on TV (Sorry that's sad!), SOOO convenient for what we wanted. Would recommend to anyone wanting a very good value for money, basic, clean hotel providing they are are independent- minded enough to want to save a fortune and use the public transport and no be utterly spoon-fed!! Oh, for those that really worry about these things....the room card had a bit of a wobbler a couple of times and needed to be re-programmed! Big Deal? Nah. Good pplace.
“Good location for passing through”
The hotel is good value for money and has everything you need for a short stay in Naples, particularly recommended as a hotel for those passing through who want easy access to transportation. The hotel is located just off the Piazza Garibaldi where there are busses to and from the airport and port as well as trains to the coast. The train station is only a few minutes away, which was our main reason for selecting it. The hotel itself is tucked away from the main Piazza which is dirty and tatty and has a lot of street vendors and people and busses and cars and general noise. Hotel is well signposted from the Piazza and we didn't struggle to find it. Hotel staff spoke English competently and there is a free shuttle to the other hotel in the group which is in the centre of town for those who want to explore a prettier part of Naples. Rooms are of an adequate size and freshly painted with good linen. Mini bar stocked with water (good in summer heat!) and we had a quaint balcony overlooking the street. One negative - although the hotel claims to have room service between set hours, when we called for this during those hours, we were told it was "not possible" with no details given due to language barrier. We only had one meal there outside in the courtyard- a Caprese salad and it was fresh and adequate.
“Close to Piazza Garibaldi, station and buses”
The hotel was great value, friendly and helpful staff, a good location, with a reasonably priced and enjoyable restaurant nearby. There was an evening minibus to and from their city centre hotel near the Castel Nuovo. Recommended.
“Great base for Naples area”
The hotel was located near the train stations, which meant it was a great base for touring the Naples area - particularly Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. The hotel room was small but kept very clean, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was additional to the room rate so instead we tried the local cafes, which provided great coffee and a range of breakfasting options. Didn't spend too much time in Naples, which appeared a bit grotty (and the traffic is mad!), but had a great meal at Il Posto Accanto on the front.
“Mercure Napoli Garibaldi”
Hotel is set just off Garibaldi Square which has a cluster of tourist hotels and is location of main Naples train station. Taxi from Airport costs around EUR17 take the meter fare with EUR6 supplement not the set fare which they choose themselves. 10 Min journey. Airport bus EUR3 also stops at Garibaldi square. Naples is not a safe place especially late at night so don't show off any wealth especially in this area. The Hotel runs a shuttle bus to its sister Hotel in main downtown area at 5PM 8PM and 9PM returning 8.30/9.30/11PM. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and will give advise on local places and how to get there. The buffet breakfast is good but hot choice not extensive. Rooms are slightly small but absolutely fine
“Good location, close to Station and Restaurants”
The only complaint I have with this hotel was they didn't have the airconditioning working when we were there in May 09 and there was a heat wave. Other than that it was fine.
“Crazy City”
The train station was very near to this hotel. The hotel provided a free shuttle van to their other hotel at several times in the evening, so visitors could visit other parts of the city. The traffic is crazy in Naples. Keep in mind that if you want to cross the street, you will have to walk out in front of traffic because they will not stop for you unless you do. Be careful. We arrived a day early, and the hotel staff were very helpful in accomodating our extra night stay.
