“Nice place to stay”
The hotel was still being renovated, but this was well managed and did not really impact on our comfort at all. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was very good. Expedia had said there would be an 'obligatory spa charge' which was not the case. (It would not have been justified.) We could have had spa treatments, with a price list, which would be fine. I'd be very happy to go back.

“Value for Money in Nairobi”
We stayed at the Sarova and the Serena Hotels in Nairobi. Both hotels are a little out of the CBD but for the price the Sarova was far the better hotel for value for money. I would stay here again.
“Good for short stay”
The staff are extremely helpful and courteous at all times, and their English is very good. Our room was rather tatty, but it was clean and comfortable and apparently several floors, including ours, are going to be greatly improved shortly. The hotel was very busy with conferences but we still managed to have our meals in a quiet place, usually by the swimming pool in the evening. Plenty of water and, very important, plenty of hot clear water, which we enjoyed having stayed somewhere where the water was dark brown. Wifi was free in our rooms, other facilities in the business centre. Our room overlooked the pools and was probably quieter than those facing the other way because the place is surrounded by very busy roads. We'd happily go again.
“Fairly Decent Hotel with Some Glaring Problems”
This hotel was decorated quite nicely, but had some glaring problems which made our stay very uncomfortable indeed. When we first arrived for check-in at the hotel, the desk attendant took literally fifteen minutes to check us in. Instead of photocopying our passports and entering the data later, she typed in (slowly) all of our details into her computer. Twice. We watched her type every single letter separately. It was excruciating. There was a loud band playing outside when we arrived and kept us awake. The walk to our room along open-air corridors felt like we were in a 1960s England council block. Our first room was on the first floor, directly outside a very loud extractor fan directly above the kitchen. We were told that it would blow loudly until at least nine o'clock that evening. We could also smell the exhaust from the kitchen and it was not pleasant. We got moved to a new room. The balcony looked out on the main road and the balcony door did not shut fully - there was a half-inch gap between door panels and the road noise was very loud as heavy trucks rumbled by out front all day and night long. The front desk were entirely unbothered by this and said that's how it always had been. The rooms have been refurbished but the new tiles on the ground mean that you can hear the guests in rooms above you walking around and moving chairs. This is entirely unforgiveable in a hotel. The bar/restaurant downstairs were pretty nice and the breakfast was quite substantial.
