A Very Run Down Hotel (NOT a Resort).

Pros: Very little. The hotel is under new ownership over the last year and it is clear that they really have no interest in making this a first class hotel.
Cons: Essentially everything. Cleanliness of common areas; elevators; staff; housekeeping; internet service; food; restaurants; amenities; staff all poor.
Location: Location is at the end of the strip and generally in a good location. The location is not the problem here, much to do fairly close by, by car.
The hotel is under new ownership since August, 2013 and they have made some improvements but those are clearly outdone by the many detriments and deficiencies. They added a water slide and only partially renovated some of the rooms, however, new headboards and dressers do not make up for a very filthy hotel in all of the common areas; horrendous elevator service; poor internet connectivity; extremely poor housekeeping services; inattentive staff; tremendous shortage of luggage carts for a facility of this size; all but 1, completely non-functional hot tubs and lack of mirrors in the rooms, etc. The hotel needs to close down the towers one by one and completely renovate the entire facility, as it is very run down. There are hundreds of places to stay on the ocean in Myrtle Beach, and this is really a place to avoid until or if they ever get it right, as there is no reason to stay here. We were given a very poor room upon registering without a kitchen, and had to fight to get a better room, only to have to wait 5 days to get another room and loose a whole morning having to move. Hotel ran out of Kleenex, toilet paper, shampoo, and towels regularly and we had to call several times each day, as we were generally ignored by staff. We have stayed at this hotel 4- 5 times over the years and because very little improvements and renovations have been made, the hotel is not now on par with the majority of the hotels in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay at another facility.

Horrible Place - DON'T even consider it!!!

Pros: Absolutely nothing. Okay, the waterslide was decent. That. Was. It.
Cons: Absolutely everything. Especially the manager, if that's who really called me to discuss my issue. A basic grasp of the English language would help.
Location: It's in the older, run down part of Myrtle Beach. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else...
What can I say - Hotel was under ridiculous amounts of construction. Room was horrible, extremely uncomfortable, and nothing like the pictures. After the fire alarm went off all night, management said, oh, you can't leave your door open to listen to the Ocean. Glad I paid EXTRA for an ocean front room! I would not let my worst enemy book at this "resort" Please, please, please, find somewhere else to stay. I would give this zero stars if possible. If you read this, and still book it, please remember what I said while your entire family is miserable for your time there. Unless extremely bare, uncomfortable rooms, not hearing the waves crash, and dealing with rude, surly staff is your thing. Then, go for it...

Oceanfront Resort

stayed 1 night with my gdaughter. She had so much FUN! The resort has so much to do & all rooms are oceanfront which is a plus! Convenient to stores & other MB attractions. Airport is close by too. Water sports available next to resort. Even got to see the fireworks right on the beach. I will def being visiting Crown Reef again when I go to MB & recommend this resort to all who are planning a vacation in MB. thank you for a great time!!!

Awesome beachfront with balcony

Great pools, slides, beach access with great views. Updated room and comfortable beds. Only negative was the elevators were kinda shabby. We stayed in Tower 3 room 839. Will def return!!

Loved staying at Crown Reef!

Pros: The pools, lazy river, water slides and hot tubs were great. It was nice for the kids to have so much to do without leaving our condo.
We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was very clean and the staff was so helpful.

Very nice hotel

Pros: Staff was very nice and helpful. There was something for every age group to do. The hotel was very clean including my room.
Cons: elevators
Location: Myrtle Beach, dining, entertainment, amusement parks, shopping, etc.
The experience was great. I had a great time, and I will return again next year.

I don't know where to start to say stay away

Pros: The remodeled room was overall very nice and the hotel is right on a very clean nice section of beach.
Cons: Everything - I would almost say tear it down and start over. Stayed before and it was better when it was a bit run down than when it was remodeled.
Location: Beachfront, Par 3 golf across the street, quick access to main thoroughfares to travel all around the area.
Our room was remodeled and new, but the balcony carpet was missing so we walked on the old adhesive. There were areas on the carpets that had sticky residue in several places near one bed. The bathroom had a brand new tube surround, yet the old leaky fixtures remained the same. This was also true of the sink. In Tower 1 (of 3) there were 1 1/2 functioning elevators for the entire 11 floor facility. One elevator was totally closed, and another would frequently get stuck on a floor and become non-functional. The ground floor waiting area frequently smelled of bad shrimp or other dead sea creatures, and the intermittently broken elevator smelled of either soured wet carpet or bleach. There are several hot tubs, yet only one was actually open, and it was a cold tub. We were aware of the delayed completion of the water slide (no biggie for us), but we were told on arrival (Wednesday) that there was chance for opening on Saturday. I guess no one follows up on the crews as on Wednesday, not only had even the first section of slide been placed, but the steps to the slide were not even built, nor the rotunda housing them glassed. We found we were told several different stories about conveniences/services depending on who you asked & when. While there were some very nice staffers, several were just simply impersonal and rude. They should not have any security as they tended to stand around and talk while people broke the rules (parking, pool hours, quiet hours).

I love the view, Parking was kind of hard to find, beds need to be update, but other than that was great.
