Property Amenities

Built in the style of an Arabic fortress, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa is set in 124-acre grounds facing the Gulf of Oman. The resort has three private beaches: a main beach, a smaller secluded beach, and a beach exclusively for guests of the Al Husn hotel. There are three large outdoor swimming pools, one at each of the resort hotels. The pools at Al Waha and Al Bandar are connected by a 500-metre long manmade river, allowing guests to float between the resorts; the infinity pool at Al Husn is for Al Husn guests only.

The gym has fitness equipment, a sauna, spa tub, and steam room. The resort features CHI, The Spa with 12 treatment villas offering body, massage, and facial therapies. Multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can provide tour assistance and the use of a safe-deposit box. The services of a floor butler and a porter are available and there is complimentary valet parking.

Complimentary amenities for guests of Al Husn include iPods with personalized music selections, daily newspapers, beach bags, fruit, access to laundry facilities, and access to a 24-hour hospitality lounge with a library and gym. “An Excellent Resort”

The resort has three hotels. We stayed at the Al Bandor. It was everything we expected. Excellent rooms, service and the location is stunning. The New Years Eve banquet started with drinks reception on the lawns followed by an really good banquet and finished off with a Beatles tribute band next to the beach and fireworks at midnight. Some of our luggage was left at Heatrow and it an example of the hotel's service was not just that when we mentioned this on arrival at reception (at gone midnight), not only did the hotel say they would sort it out, but we had only been in our room for a few minutes when a member of staff arrived with complementary polo shirts, nightwear, toothpaste etc - something that really shows thought.

“Wonderful!”

My husband and i picked this resort for our 10th wedding anniversary. Our entire stay was very relaxing. the staff were extremly friendly and they could not be more helpful. They gave us a bottle of champagne, a cake and flowers on our anniversary which was a special touch. Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

“Fantastic resort”

The Shangri-La in Muscat is a fantastic resort where service comes first. Our room was in the 'cheapest' of the three hotels that make up the resort and our initial reaction was 'hmm, is this it' but the size of the bathroom quickly made up for it. The service in the hotel was impeccable - for instance, cold towels and fruit was brought to us while lounging in the sun; it is these little touches that set the hotel apart from its peers. The various restaurants offer good quality food though the seafood restaurant is a bit overpriced.

“thought I had died and gone to heaven”

Reluctant to share this info in case it attracts too many people. Al Husyn is the part of the resort reserved for only 18 yrs & older. Very sophsticated, comforting and elegant. Makes you think that whoever planned it already thought of everything you could want in a hotel. Very expensive, but in this part of the world - with 7star hotels- this one still stands up quite well against the competition.

“Fantastic Service”

Great honeymoon - all staff were very attentive and they made our stay extremely pleasant. As it was our honeymoon they provided little extras which were very unexpected but fantastic - flowers, wine, cake and a fruit plate! Overall it was a great hotel and a very relaxing stay.

Vraiment un très belle Hôtel, le service est de qualité, les gens très agréable, c'est un complexe qui regroupe trois Hôtel, un très grand nombre de choix de restaurant, un décord vraiment très jolie, situé dans les roches. “Hôtel SHANGRI LA à MASCATE : le luxe à tous les étages !”

Je recommande cet hôtel car c'est tout simplement un palace ! le personnel ne sait pas quoi faire pour vous satisfaire, et ce, à n'importe quelle heure... il devient un sérieux concurrent pour le Al Boustan... si je retourne à Mascate, c'est vers cet hôtel que se portera à nouveau mon choix. Il est situé dans une enclave entre la montagne et la mer...une mer chaude, 2 piscines refroidies l'été , une petite rivière... c'est tout simplement un aperçu du paradis !

“Shangri-La Lives Up to its Reputation”

A really nice place with very friendly and helpful staff. There are a few restaurants and shops in the resort but the choice is limited as you will be some distance from city. The scuba dive school/shop is conveniently located nearby. If you want to get aound, it is essential to have a car when staying at this resort alththough there is a limited shuttle service into town.
