“Great hotel”

“One of Munich's Best”
Excellent Hotel in heart of Munich, however, its proximity to the Main Train Station means some run down areas are but a block away. From the outside the hotel looks rather plain, but once inside it is a gem. Staff was helpful and friendly, but breakfast was not ready as promised on the morning of our departure.
“Quality stay in Munich”
The Koenigshof is a modern, relatively small, and very pleasant hotel in Munich. The staff is unfailingly pleasant and helpful; virtually all are fluent in English. The hotel has a good restaurant (Michelin gives it a star) and is across a large thoroughfare from the principal, pedestrians-only, shopping area in central Munich. Shops, museums, and restaurants (all but one) were all within walking distance. Our room was quite spacious; huge bathroom. We would stay there again.
“If you want luxury, this is the place to go!”
So my friends and I went to book a hotel for Oktoberfest, VERY LAST MINUTE. We were left with very few options near the actual Oktoberfest tents/train station. This hotel had availability, but it was an absurd price! Then again, whether we found hostels or hotels, the prices were outrageous. I guess that is what happens when you try to book a room during Oktoberfest in Munich, especially last minute. However, since all of our options were expensive, we thought we would pay a tiny bit extra for the nice Hotel rather than the hostel. Positives: -very helpful staff -free wifi -ipad to borrow for our room -free water and Oktoberfest cookies -24 hour front desk staff -luxurious rooms with bathrobes, slippers, toiletries -we arrived WAY too early, and our room was not ready. So the staff took all of our stuff, and gave us a pass to the SPA so we could freshen up. -When we finally arrived later in the day to see our room, our luggage had already been placed in the hotel room! Down Side: expensive, (it was worth the price)
“Will Definitely return”
I booked 2 rooms at this hotel for me and my wife and for another couple. Found it within a few weeks o the 2010 Oktoberfest yet still found available rooms at very reasonable rates -- particularly for the date and location. Wonderful hotel in a great spot close to main train station (Munich HbF), Marienplatz, and the Oktoberfest grounds.

“Not a 5 Star!!”
Photos on internet are NOT what the hotel looks like in reality!! It's a good 4 star business hotel but NOT a 5 star. And certainly should NOT be a leading hotel. I was very, very very disappointed by the service and room quality. Rooms are dusty, cheap furniture, old TV set (c'mon even 3 star hotels these days have LCD screens...but not the Koenigshof). Asked for change of towels at night (a regular service at 5 stars) but did not get it. Absolutely not worth the price and certainly not what it looks like on photos...
