“It's the people who count, not the size of the hotel room”
We stayed at this hotel during the off season, so the pool was not open. However, we enjoyed our stay. The room was basic, clean and comfortable. The morning that we checked out, our car did not start. The hotel manager was EXTREMELY helpful and comforting to us in this stressful situation. After a wonderful day of sightseeing, we realized that our daughter left a beloved pillow in the hotel room. We called and notified the hotel, and they promptly sent the treasure back to us. When we travel, we truly feel that the people whom we cross paths with are more critical to our experiences than the actual hotel room, and in this situation, the people at the White House Resort and in Keystone were truly amazing!
“nice spot, tight parking”
Staff was very friendly and helpful, accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the location was very convenient. Parking is EXTREMELY tight. My small SUV barely fit. There is sizable greenspace across the road for pet exercise.
“Good Choice”
Extremely convenient to area sites. Hotel personnel friendly & helpful. Room was spacious. Loved the 24 hour coffee availability. We would stay here again.
“Fun and reasonable place to stay in Keystone”
Hotel was right on downtown strip of Keystone and 2 miles from Mount Rushmore. It was nice to stay, complimentary coffee was nice but no breakfast and no newspaper with room. The room itself was nice, with a big bathroom and fair beds.
“Keystone--nice place to visit-close to lots of attractions”
We spent 4 full days in Keystone. Stayed at the White House Resort--which by the way has thee best music playing in the lobby and outside their door!! Our room was spacious--clean, and comfy. The staff honored our request to just empty garbage and give clean towels daily. The pool and whirlpool were nice to "come home to' and relax after a day of sightseeing. The front desk persons were very helpful whenever we needed directions, suggestions, etc.
“Terribly outdated, not so clean, but close to Mt. Rushmore for the right price.”
The rooms are dark, blasted with fake pine tree scent, with outdated decor. They actually twist up towels into swan-like looking things and put them on the foot of each bed. The beds are not very comfortable nor very clean. I felt the need to wrap my pillows with the towels from the bathroom and wear flip flops when taking a shower. I had a view out my window of a dirt hill and a propane tank. The hallways smell of chlorine from the swimming pool and the only place to get coffee is in the main lobby. No coffee makers in the rooms. The wi-fi is unusable if you are able to connect. I was only able to connect with Windows, not Mac OS or my iPod until I fiddled around with the connections a lot. The staff was not helpful in resolving the internet issues. Either way, the price was good, there are lots of fun things to do in town, it is close to Mt. Rushmore, and there is acceptable food in the restaurant. I just needed a roof over my head for one night, so I would probably go back if I needed the same unless I felt like spending more money for a nicer hotel.
“Weekend in the Black Hills”
Staff was very helpful and nice. Rooms a little small, but overall it was a good stay for the money. I would definitely stay there again. Nice pool. I read from another review that the decor was dated. It was but it was still pleasing.
“horrible beds”
We had our granddaughter with us and she enjoyed to pool but none of us got a good nights sleep! The beds were so bad and the room was very small.
“Rooms are small, lobby and sitting areas are noisy”
We stayed at another hotel last year when we went to Mt Rushmoor and were not satisfied because the rooms were tiny. So we tried this hotel on our stay this year. It absolutely is under the same ownership (same carpet, same size rooms, same dried flower arrangments in the hallway). The pool was large, water was clean and warm. Otherwise the hotel was a bust. Room was tiny, when I showered the water would not drain quickly and I was standing in dirty water. Everyone felt they were being bitten by bugs in the bed all night. The music in the lobby and sitting areas was turned on really early (before 7AM) and it was loud and out-dated. Loud enough to wake everyone and get us out of the hotel (which is probably the point). Room smelled when we arrived, but at least the window opened.
