VashOtel Ostankino is located in a picturesque area in northeast Moscow. Its namesake and illustrious neighbor is the Ostankino Park and Palace, the former summer residence and private opera theater of the Sheremetyev family. The main wooden palace, begun in 1792, still exists it is the third largest wooden building in the world. The palace encloses a theater open May to October, Egyptian and Italian pavilions, and the 17th century Trinity Church. The 1770 foot Ostankino television tower the tallest free standing structure in Europe and a breath taking scene at night, is nearby as are the Moscow Botanical Garden and the Timiryazevsky Park. Moscows first monorail serves the area the nearest Metro stations are Petrovsko Razumovskaya and Vladykino.
