Over charged like a fool!
For 2 night had to pay almost 12,000 Russian Rubles. At check in a group from the streets was looking to see if any beds were available. The receptionist told them that the non online booking fee was 3,500 Rubles. That would have been 7,000 Rubles for 2 night got over charged 5,000 Rubles that’s about $85 for two nights for a dirty and nasty hostel with one broken shower, one broken toilet. Nasty mattress, nasty pillows, it goes on and on. Could have at least invested a bit before the World Cup. Oh and the pictures online do not match!

F**ked up!
Bad experience. Dirty, no upgrade fir World Cup. One shower broken never got fixed in the 4 days and 3 nights there. One toilet out of service. Other shower was starting to give up. Old dirty mattress and pillows. Sheets and blankets as well. Nasty lobby. Nothing like in the pictures. Everyone that arrived there was upset. Hostel was very over priced.

Great location, poor cleanliness
The hotel location is very convenient, it's one block from the metro, 10-15 minutes walking from St. Basil Cathedral and Red Square... But the condition of the hostel is very poor, looks more like shelter rather than a hostel, some people lives there, bathrooms are disgusting even for a hostel, only 2 toilets for 40 people (more less)...... But I have to say that font desk is very friendly and helpful, all staff is always willing to help...... if you don't mind sacrifice cleanliness, this cold be a great option.

Perfect place for backpackers
I live in Moscow since 2001.Recently my apartment was under renovation.So I had to stay out for 3days.As you all know,Moscow is one of the costliest city.Then I found Napolean hostel through expedia.I was really shocked to see the room fare.I didn't believe until I checked in. This place is really worth more than what we pay.You won't regret and you can't expect anything more than this.

Decent hostel well run
Its central location and helpful staff made it easy to get around Moscow, the only drawback was that it was a little hard to find at first. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Napoleon hostel

Good hostel a bit crowded.
Good hostel, very well situated. It was a bit crowded during our stay (people sleeping in the lobby). The kitchen was not in a state that incited us to cook there, luckily there were inexpensive restaurants nearby.

Good choice of Hostel
I highly recommend this hostel because there are very helpful and well-English-speaking staff who always assist you when you need help. Friendly atmosphere and you will make lot of friends in Moscow !!! Location is the best, just a short walk to the Kremlin and Red Square, numerous bars and restaurants in the local area.

Moscow's Hostel
Everything was perfect with the hostel except the shower was not sealed well in our private room with shower so the floor of our room got pretty wet. Otherwise, the location was nice, the large king size private room was great and we felt very comfortable. Also loved the free internet.

They were just doing a refurbishment of some rooms while I was there so condition of hostel a little dusty etc - had to move room on 2nd night - Staff very friendly and helpful toilets/kitchen quite cramped Directions to find hostel - spot on - really accurate. Would recommend it to someone

Awesome experiance for Moscow!
Very pleasant from the minute i got there! The staff were very nice, and very helpful to give you ideas as to where to go and what to do while there. It was a great place to meet people to go out exploring with.

remember it's a hostel
This place is definitely not for everyone. Pros - convenient location near the metro station in the heart of Moscow, price. Cons - if you are not ready for hostel crowd, not ready to mingle with dozens of not exactly sober guests, I repeat - do NOT go there. Cleanness of the room if you buy is bunk is a joke, no night lights and be prepared that your neighbor would switch on general lighting on 1 am just caz he's back.

Good location... Awful Hostel
The hosel has a good location. 10 minutes walk to Red Square and Kremlin. 2 minutes walk to the Metro Station. The cleanliness of the Hostel is disappointing. The common rooms are disgusting. You can tell they dont clean them often. 2 bathrooms for 40 guest is quite a challenge. Hostel staff were not at all helpful.

Great Place To Stay
Great time here. Great location near subway, restaurants, night clubs, Red Square, and many nearby stores means you don't have to walk too long to get around. Hostel staff is very courteous, helpful, and speak English very well. They will also book tours, taxis, and train tickets for you if asked. My only major complaint was about the laundry service which was incredibly slow. Recommended!

The place was very alive and near to nightclubs/eating places etc. This was positive in that it felt very alive and always new people chatting etc, but negative in that people were sometimes drunk in the common area. So more than a little like being a student again...

Disappointed and misled traveler
First I would like to say that the staff was friendly and pleasant. However, they failed to mention that since I was going to be staying more than 3 days in Moscow that I was also going to have to pay an additional 800 rubels (about $28) once I checked in. I was pretty upset by this considering that the directions they gave me to get to the hostel weren't very good, and I was stuck in the subway system for 5 and 1/2 hours once my plane arrived in Moscow. Also, the invitation letter I received from the hostel wasn't accepted by the Russian consulate I went to, so I had to go through an entirely different travel agency and almost didn't get my visa in time for my trip. Also, the hostel is on the 4 floor of the building it's in and since they don't allow smoking in the hostel itself, the smokers go into the stairwell and turn it into a chimney. So it smells like smoke 24/7, and is really hard to breathe. The people in the living room allowed visitors until 2-3am and it was really loud until about 11pm every night. Sometimes midnight. The people in the rooms where we stayed usually didn't go to sleep until 11pm-12am either. The layout is very cramped and wasn't kept up very well. The microwave didn't work, and there isn't an oven to cook in. However, they do have a stove which is plus. I would say the best thing about the hostel is it's location. Bar none. You're a 10 minute walk to the Kremlin and very centrally located to a lot of the favorite local attractions.

cool place.
It can be hard for weak people to walk upstairs to 4th floor, but it's not a problem to me.. oh, btw about smoking, I'm non-smoker and it was not good whenever the main door was opened, cause the smoke flowed in. (I think in Russia, smoking is not regarded as bad as in Korea..) But, So friendly, and funny. Actually it was the first time for me to stay in youthhostel, so I can't compare here to others. But, there was so comfortable. staying in the center of the Moscow at that price, it's nice. It's very close to kitai-gorod metro station, and not very but still close to citi-bank atm. about 5 minutes walk.

Bargain in the Heart of Moscow
Much of the set-up is what one would expect for a hostel: basic bunks, nice little kitchen, etc. Besides the fifteen-minute walk from Red Square, the other outstanding feature is the staff. They have posted all the information on sites, transportation in Russia, and travel tips. They even helped me buy a train ticket to St. Petersburg online! The relaxed atmosphere and attention to details make this a great alternative to the upscale hotels downtown.

Although I have never stayed at a hostel before, I CAN say that staying at the Napoleon Hostel was one of the most pleasant experiences of my life. The staff was friendly and VERY helpful in helping me navigate Moscow, and the proximity to Red Square made touring amazingly convenient. But what set the experience aside in my memory is the diversity of people staying there for the short time I was there. I met people, literally, from all over the world...and they, like me, were out exploring the world and were generally happy to share their own experiences. I very gladly recommend the Napoleon Hostel to anybody staying in Moscow for any amount of time.

Good place to stay
Although a bit cramped, this is a very good place to stay if you want to meet other travellers and locals, and be in the center of the city. The staff is friendly and helpful, and beer is available at the front desk. You can't beat the price compared to a Moscow hotel!

This is about the only way to describe this hostel located in the heart of Moscow and situated on the doorstep of the main tourist sites. It is primarily a young person's hostel, but everyone was very friendly, spoke English and it felt like one big happy (if chaotic) family. It was the lowest cost place I could find and for a couple of nights it was fine, especially as it was within walking distance of most things, including the metro. I would consider it again for a short stay.

Great Value for Travelers on a Budget
My stay at Napeoleon Hostel was the first time I ever stayed at a hostel and it was a very positive experience. It is centrally located -- within walking distance to the major attractions in the city as well as the metro, restaurants, shops, banks, and bars. It is acceptably clean, and the staff is courteous, attentive and helpful. For the money it offers cozy, clean accommodations, friendly atmosphere, and a great location in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I would definitely recommend Napoleon Hostel and stay here again.

Habitación muy pequeña, sin armario o baldas, ni espacio para al menos abrir la maleta. Limpia al llegar. No hubo ninguna limpieza durante los 5 días de estancia. Zonas comunes muy sucias: mar olor, suelo pegajoso, cocina con platos sucios y restos de comida (daba asco entrar). Muy mala actitud por parte de la recepción del hotel. 2 días antes me mandaron un correo electrónico pidiendo la tarjeta de crédito para cobrar al menos 1 día y asegurarse la reserva (cambiando las condiciones contratadas con hotels.com). Además, al llegar se nos cobró un 3% extra por el pago con tarjeta de crédito.

観光するにはそこそこいい立地
初めて行くと場所がわかりづらいかも知れない。場所がわかって入っていくと階段で旅行者がたむろしてたばこを吸っていることがあり、小心者なら少し怖いかも知れない。 ただ、慣れれてる人なら中心部に近いところで値段も安いので使い勝手がいいと思う。
