“Good Location”
This is a very well located hotel, right in front of Kremlin and Red Square. Very comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast with an incredible view from the breakfast room. Advise; Buy breakfast through Expedia, it is 40% cheaper.
“Excellent”
Excellent location and service. A worthwhile treat for short stays in Moscow
“Very good location and quality of rooms and servic”
The location of this hotel is unbeatable, right across the street from the Red Square. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, and service excellent. It was 10F outside and we were in t-shirts inside, so, the heating system works very well. The only downside is that the selection of nearby restaurants is not large, and when the weather is so harsh you need to take taxis to go everywhere and it can be expensive.
“Hotel National, Moscow”
Hotel is beautiful, stunning decor and great history. Everything about this hotel is first class and location is perfect for seeing the very best of Moscow. Hotel is expensive but you pay for the standard of hotel this is. Plenty of eating and drinking close by too.
“Fantastic time at Moscow's finest hotel ....”
If you are looking for an architypal old traditional hotel in Moscow - this is the one. Very central and opposite the Kremlin/Red Square - which is just the other side of the road. The hotel and particularly the rooms are well decorated and evocative of a bygone era as the hotel was built in 1903 and has retained much of its old charm. Upon arrival we were very warmly welcomed by Marina the Receptionist and actually offered a choice of rooms. The bell boy showed us to a very nice room with a view of Tsverskaya Street next door to the hotel but in the end we opted of a less spectacular view but the room was luxurious complete with its own sitting room and jacuzzi was awesome. The food at the hotel was better in Alexandrovsky's Bar and the service is polite. Everything is within walkign distance of the hotel with the metro 20 yards away and the Bolshoi about 10 mins away. We had a fantastic time in our first trip to Moscow/Russia and will definately return. We wouldn't choose to stay anaywhere else. :-)
“One happy independent traveller”
We had a warm welcome at this hotel - no language problems at reception. THe room we had was at the back which we were glad of away from traffic noise. The room was very comfortable and had a lovely bathroom- lashings of hot water. The breakfast here was fabulous- everything you could possibly want - include Russian Champagne to go with the Blinis and smoked salmon. THe view from the dining room was stunning of the Kremlin and view into Red Square. - it proved very handy for nipping back for cameras etc which weren't allowed in Lennins tomb etc. We would stay here again due to location and accessiblilty to Red Square and the Metro. However the hotel charges for the use of the swiming pool which I found outrageous for a 5 star hotel.
“Historical Hotel with Great Location”
The hotel location is really great, directly across from Red Square and the Kremlin. The hotel is a unique older builder, the room is small but what we had expected. The breakfast buffet that was included was quite good with lots of fresh fruit, breads, cereals and hot items. I would not pay the 1245 roubles per person for the buffet expect for that it was included. The hotel also has a nice pool and gym area. The downside to the hotel are that everybody smokes in Russia in all the buildings. So in order to access the main elevators you needed to walk through the lobby bar where everybody was smoking, so the smell is really strong. Also the lobby bar is very expensive as you would imagine, $15 for a tea and $24 for a beer! Service is slow but that is everywhere in Russia and the hotel staff do speak english but it is very limited. Overall the hotel is nice but we would probably try another one in the same location next time.
“A responsive management running a first class hote”
Some initial uncertainty regarding what was included in the price ( breakfast). Restaurant was disappointing and over- priced with some staff training needed, however this was acknowledged instantly and the situation rectified quickly and pleasantly. Customer satisfaction was at the forefront of their service. Great location, quality rooms, fixtures, fittings, bedding...a definite 5 star hotel. Wonderful attentive reception staff.
