“Great Choice for Moorea”
The Kaveka is a great hotel. The facilities are definitely older. The shower nozzle had some chips in it and the lines that connected the toilet tank we old and rusty. Other than those few things the place is great. Staff is very welcoming and every morning there is a free shuttle from the hotel down to a shopping center that has restaurants, a supermarket, and an internet store. The hotel gives you an hour to do business and than picks you up and brings you back to the hotel. There is snorkleing 5 feet from your room. This is hotel is much cheaper than any other hotel on the island an yet is located in a perfect spot. All the tours bring their guests to Cooks Bay to go snorkeling. the beach at the hotel is private so most days we were the only ones in the water. Each room has refridgerator so you can buy drinks at the supermarket and save money. There is also a nearby pizza restaurant where you can get a cheap dinner. The pizza restaurant is about a 5 minute walk from the Kaveka.

“A little bit of Paradise”
We stayed at the hotel from Dec 17, 2011 until the 21st. We were greeted warmly and shown to our beautiful little garden bungalow. We had a great view of Cook's Bay from our little deck and through the front sliding glass door. We were just 18 paces from the water's edge. Thje room was a little tight as they squeezed a king bed and a single bed into the room, but we wanted two beds so we were grateful. There was a small refrigerator that even made small ice cubes! The bathroom was a bit dated, but functional. Our only complaint was that we were pestered by little insects that at first came in with the beautiful flowers that greeted us when we arrived and then sort of kept showing up. They were very tiny and harmless so no big deal. The surrouding grounds were clean and well kept. There was a small beach from which we found good for sun bathing or snorkeling. The long pier off the restaurant is also good for fish watching and for swimming off of. Bicycles and kayaks were available to rent but we found it a bit expensive. The hotel restaurant served great food. All of the hotel staff were helpful and very friendly. They spoke English and made us feel very welcome. We would return to this hotel for another stay.
“Tahiti Visit”
We purchased the meal plan with our room and the all the food was just excellent. The view from our room was awesome. We were glad we had an air conditioned room for sleeping at night.
“Relaxing spot”
Great getaway from the crowds at the larger resorts. We stayed in a lagoon view bungalow and were pleasantly surprised that is was 5 ft from the water. Great snorkeling (best on island) and relaxing spot to watch the sunset. Bungalow decor basic but what we expected. We would definitely stay there again. Management and staff very nice and accommodating. Overwater restaurant has decent food and it's like sitting over an aquarium!
“Fantastic view, location and staff w/ unusual accomodations, similar to camping”
We thought this was the best view on the island! We'd recommend it to those travelers who don't need big fancy hotels, but like smaller places with their own personality, even tho they have less frills. Owner Greg was nice, friendly and helpful. Tim was a joy ! the daily ride to town was SO helpful. (Internet in town is about $6 /hour at cafe) The garden is lovely. The gardener and girls are smiling and friendly. we booked w/expedia and ended up w/ the cheapest cabin 323. no view, no a/c, no screens, (higher priced cabins did) tiny tv had only 1 french channel, little fridge helps, only other amenity was bar soap, but we were comfortable there. A coffee machine would've been nice. There are no "rooms" but little cabins, some doubles. Ours had a king and single bed. Some cabins had a little porch w/ chairs and roof, which would be nice in the rain. They all had a faucet outside. There were plenty of places to sit in the common areas of the restaurant/lobby/pier/garden/beach tho too. Huge TV in lobby gets cnn and espn if you ask. The restaurant was good, portions big enough for 2. Try the sweet and sour shrimp, not the tuna curry. This hotel was a bargain for Moorea, which is not a bargain destination by any means. However it's worth the price, as Moorea and it's people are amazingly beautiful !
“Overall Happy with our Choice for a couple days....”
The bungalows are definitely not fancy, but if you are like us and just want to be comfortable and prefer to save the money and spend it doing others things this is a decent place for the money. The location is very pretty on Cook's Bay but I would not recommend if you are strictly looking for a beach AT you r hotel. We went in the water around the pier to do some snorkeling (saw a sea turtle and sting ray) but for the most part we used our 2 days at this hotel to take advantage of renting a car and driving around Moorea. Like I said we were overall happy for the price considering prices in FP since we just needed somewhere to sleep at the end of our day and were willing to skip on the luxury. It was our honeymoon so we splurged our next to nights at the Sofitel (best beach on the island in my opinion!!)
“the rains came”
5 days of solid rain, not the hotel's fault. Good food and friendly staff. 10 TV stations all in french and not very exciting; Hence TV in cabin is not much of use.
“Hotel Kaveka Moorea.”
The setting was nice but it was quite remote. The local staff were charming. The hotel itself consisted of wooden cabins and a central restaurant. The cabins were adequite though the walls and ceiling were of a formica type material and some maintenance was needed. However it was poor value for the money asked and everything was an 'extra'.....beach towels, the use of the safe, the use of the air-conditioning was almost half of the price of the room again, coffee was cold, the markup on water was very high. I asked if I could have an omelette at dinnertime but was told that it was only available for lunch. Overall it was more the attitude that I objected to, rather than the place itself, especially having been staying in the Los Angeles Hilton for which I paid about the same amount and where very good facilities - airport transfers, airconditioning, gym, pools, concierge service, safe deposit, and equipment in the room were supplied as a matter of course. I had chosen the hotel based on reports in Trip Advisor but felt let down by the reviews given.
