“pleasantly surprised”
I was somewhat worried after reading some of the other reviews but I experienced none of the problems expressed by others. The proximity to "La Main" can't be beat.
“Opus - a hotel for the affluent and style-conscious”
Definitely a higher-end hotel, cost is a little more than other options in the neighborhood, but worth splurging on if you enjoy the finer things in life and you're in Montreal to party! A reasonable walk through China-town into the Old Port with many great dining options at your disposal. There is a popular night club on-site, which is great for 'front of the line' access for hotel guests, but will keep you up if you decide to end the night early... NB: Dog friendly - but NOT good for kids/family.
“its the hotel to go to in montreal”
every time we have business and we have to reserve a hotel im worried about the hotel . well not any more from now on i can say there's a good opus hotel in montreal (perfect)
“Lovely room but hotel staff were less than helpful”
I stayed at the Opus this past weekend for three nights. I was given a room on the first floor that I shared with my boyfriend for our trip to Montreal. The room was amazing, quite clean and well put together, I was very impressed. However, now for the downfalls. The cleaning staff showed up at ten or earlier in the morning trying to come into the room, much to early for my likeing, they also never refilled our room correctly. By the third night we never received new glasses, soap, coffee or anything of that variety. The hotel is noisy, considering there is a bar downstairs, which seems very popular. It is hard to sleep at times but tolerable. What killed the hotel for me was the staff, I found them to be very rude and short. Upon check in I was quoted a price for parking, yet much to my suprise on the third morning I was asked to pay a much higher price when checking out. Instead of being apologetic or curtious, the staff were extremely rude when I asked the reasoning. I was not at all refusing to pay but curious as to why. Overall, I would not stay there again. I got a great price and had a good time. If you can get a bargain the rooms are clean and very nice, otherwise I would choose a different hotel.
“Modern and comfortable - a must stay in Montreal”
This hotel is located in an area of Montreal which offers many restaurants of ethnic and local foods, is across the street from a Metro station and is a short cab ride to the Old Montreal historic district. The room was modern and very comfortable. The bathroom was large and very well appointed. The staff were very friendly and attentive to all my needs. It appears that the hotel caters to many business functions so can be quite busy in the restaurant and bar at times. Definitely would go back here.
“Such a pleasant change from the more corporate hotels”
Opus Montreal is so funky that the staff wear matching black and pink shoes, yet every staff member we spoke with really wanted us to enjoy our stay. We were greeted with a glass of good champagne on check in... and impressions just got better. No request was a problem, directions and advice were given freely. Our room was practical and good looking, with a bathroom that was actually big enough, and taps that function logically. Best hotel I've stayed at in a long time.
“hotel opus - just needs light and free wireless”
Overall the hotel is great, staff are great, location is great! The only downsides: lighting & wireless. The rooms are VERY dimly lit, makes it difficult to see anything once the sun sets. Great ambiance if you are having a romantic escape, but if not its just irritating! (I am not old either!) My only other critical feedback - why is free wireless not available in the rooms??? In the developing world, free wireless is easily accessible. In a G8 country - not so much. So instead you have to skype or email in the hotel lobby - not so cool. The upside of spending time in the lobby - free coffee and tea. Additional tip: Breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel - very over priced. Run across the street to the Tim Horton's in the gas station Esso and buy a bagel and creme cheese and save $20!
“On my short list of places to stay”
I has been the place I most like staying in Montreal for several years.
“No recommended unless under 30 years old”
Far too noisy for this level of hotel, not made aware of parking fee, $15 for internet per day is ridiculous.
“Great Party Hotel for a weekend visit”
Great Party hotel for a weekend visit. Just to let you know the hotel has its own party on Saturdays in their lounge which is nice but you can hear the music in the hotel rooms until 2-3 am incase you are not the party type. It is walking distance to a lot of the weekend night life. From what I can remember I had a great time!
