“Great place to stay in heart of Downtown”
We stayed two nights and found the accommodations quite comfortable. Being a renovated Victorian, there are no elevators, so we carried our stuff up two flights- good to keep in mind if this is an issue for you. The bed was comfortable, not hard at all, and A/C worked well, even on the third floor. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not extravagant, but quite pleasant with pastries, cereal, yogurt and very good coffee. Location couldn't be beat, and though there is very little parking on site, there are private, monitored garages on the next street over. All shops and eateries are only blocks away, and very accessible by walking. Metro stations 2 blocks away. I would definitely recommend Manoir Ambrose, and would stay here again myself if I get back to Montreal!
“Extremely Charming”
My only complaint is that I only stayed one night! This hotel is an old Victorian brownstone that's been renovated. The staff was extremely helpful and polite, and the hotel had all the charm reflected in the pictures. Make sure, if you bring a car, you reserve parking with the hotel in advance. This was not clear to me when I made the reservation. This hotel does not have its own lot, so a parking space needs to be reserved in advance for all guests who need one from a parking garage nearby. I lucked out, though - there was parking available on the street, so I could leave my car right out front for free. The room was adorable, and breakfast the next day provided a lot of great choices. One important note: this hotel is not handicapped accessible.

“Very nice”
On business to McGill. Excellent location for walking to both McGill and to the restaurant area of Cresent Street.
“If I get back, I'd stay there again.”
I loved it. I thought it was so quaint. So Victorian. High ceilings with coving and chandeliers. Beautiful architecture. I thought the staff was so sweet and accommodating. Very friendly and helpful. The bed was clean and comfy. My room was quiet and I was never disturbed by other guests or noises even though the hotel was full all week. A nice big bathroom with instant hot water. True, no elevator. But that's part of the charm of staying in a Victorian. Circular staircases and plaster mouldings. The breakfast was wonderful. Plenty of it, too. Cereal, oatmeal, danish, croissant, muffins, assorted breads for toast, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate, teas, fresh fruit, sometimes quiche. It was great. The location is really good for shopping and dining. It's close to the Metro. It's very close to Art galleries and museums. And just two or three blocks from anything. I very much enjoyed my stay and would love to go back.
“hotel with character in downtown Montreal”
The hotel is very charming, and conveniently located. The room was large, and cleans, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming to us. The parking spot was definitely handy, and it's worth reserving it in advance. Highly recommended!
“Cute, Great location”
I stayed here very last minute, and it was very reasonably priced for such a good downtown location. It's steps from the main streets (Ste. Catherine, Maisoneuve). It's several blocks from Sainte Laurante where all the English/Americans like to go out. The front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful and spoke English very well. The hotel is a large old victorian house converted so it's a little hard to spot just driving by, but I found plenty of street parking on that block on a Saturday night. The room was very large and clean. The beds were very comfortable and clean, and they had actual comforters and nice squishy pillows. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to.
“Great Value & a Great Location”
On averall excellent hotel, with a great price point, and an even better location, especially if you need to be downtown and close to the universities. My only critique is that the room assigned to us was behind the service/welcome desk. During the day, the receptionist's voice could easily be heard through the wall. Except for this, great place to stay.
“4-day stay”
Excellent place for the price. Some areas could use a fresh coat of paint.
