“Looking forward to staying at Place D'Armes again”
Great staff, great room. Breakfast and evening wine/cheese were a nice touch. Very conveniently located.
“terrific hotel”
The hotel room was very comfortable. The building is in a great location. The staff is very helpful and went the extra mile. We loved the way it looked, not too austere, but not overly fancy. The food including complimentary breakfast was excellent.
“Great Spot in Old Montreal”
The location is excellent, and our room was perfect. We wanted to discover Old Montreal, and our corner room looked out over Place D'Armes Square at the Basilica of Notre Dame. Walking distance to the waterfront, great neighborhood, lots of variety in terms of restaurants and shops. Exactly what we wanted!
“Perfect for My Meeting”
I was attending a conference at Palais des Congres de Montreal and this hotel was the perfect placed to stay. Every night there was a knock at the door with a delivery of water and chocolate! A nice treat. The food at the hotel's restaurant was excellent and the service was very good.
“Hotel made our stay.”
We cannot say enough about the staff at this hotel. Fabulous!!! The room was gorgeous. The location was perfect. There were restaurants, shopping and around the corner from the Notre Dame Basilica.
“Great hotel, great location”
What a great hotel. On the edge of old Montreal across from the Notre Dame Cathederal. The hotel was also a 5 minute walk to the Metro station. The room was large and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was huge with a large walk in shower. The rooftop terrace was great (except for the wasps), and the food was great. The gym was small, but had all the equipment you would need and is open 24 hours. I have no complaints about this hotel at all, and will definitely stay there on my next visit.
“Style, comfort, and location”
It's nice to walk into a hotel room and be impressed! Both the size and the decor of our room at the Hotel Place d'Armes were exceptional. The furniture was large, dark, and metro-modern, and the soft furnishings were plush and comfortable. The bedroom had a large sitting area with a sofa and an easy chair, plus an electric fireplace -- not as tacky as it sounds, and it offered both heat and charm on a winter evening. The bath fittings were sleek and modern, and the shower stall was larger than most hotel bathrooms. High ceilings in both rooms made them feel even more spacious. My only reservation is that the lighting was a little too low and dramatic -- it was rather difficult to read in the sitting area. The hotel was converted from three historic commercial buildings; the coversion maintains the charm of the old architecture while adding a definite urban-modern style. Service at the front desk was always cheerful and helpful. The restaurants recommended at the front desk were exceptionally good. A decent continental breakfast (pastries, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit salad) and an evening wine-and-cheese reception was included with the room. Hot breakfast was available at an additional cost. Hotel Place d"Armes is on the edge of Old Montreal, just across a park from the Church of Notre Dame. The restaurants, bars, shops, and museums of Old Town are a short downhill stroll (even in the dead of winter it was very do-able).
“Great Old Montreal Alternative”
A real gem in an excellent location.
“Exceptional Hotel”
I'm a frequent traveler and booked this hotel because of it's high ratings on TripAdvisor. The hotel room was amazing: large, clean, amble. It's right across from the Notre Dame Basilica. The free wine and cheese 5-7 pm is a nice pre-dinner event. We didn't eat at the Hotel's restaurant, so can't comment. The bar had one of the best bartenders we've experienced: look for the guy who samples each drink (not with his mouth on your glass of course) because the drinks will be just perfect. Minor issues include no TV in the bar (I'm a sports fan) because of the John Lennon/Yoko Ono theme, lack of flat screen TV (although I would rather have a high quality CRT than a flat screen which is not HDTV like in some hotels).
“Great Old Montreal”
Excellent boutique hotel.
