“viva le Jazz!”
very nice spot, cozy, friendly, all the guests were quick to make friends. good time!
“Lovely hostel/hotel in great location”
We stayed in a private room, it was amazing. I couldnt believe it for the price, such a nice little old fashioned place with a free standing bath. Admittedly it could have been a bit cleaner(it was a bit dusty) but the sheets were clean and so was the bathroom. Great location, if a little noisy at night. Overall really good value for money and lots more character than big name hotels. Plus free bagels in the morning were a plus.
“Cute downtown accommodations”
I can't speak to the quality of the dorm-style rooms, but my boyfriend and I had the jacuzzi suite and very much enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and exactly as pictured. The bed was comfortable, the jacuzzi worked great, and the location was perfect for the activities we had planned while in the city. We had several issues come up during our stay, but most of them were resolved to our satisfaction. There were no towels and no toilet paper, but it says right on their website that you can request these as needed from reception. Towels came to us fresh from the dryer, and the clerk even ran across the street to buy us toilet paper from the depanneur when he realized the hostel's stockpile was out. The AC was broken when we arrived and didn't do a whole lot once it was fixed, but the nights were cool enough that sleeping wasn't unbearable. Overall, I stress that this isn't your typical pristine hotel room. This place has character, sometimes in the form of dust bunnies, but we felt that it was well worth what we paid, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.
“Nice hotel, cool neighbourhood”
The area is dynamic. close to everywhere. a nice choice to really feel the city.
“Great location-funky, quirky and fun!”
What an interesting place...great, helpful staff..central location to most of Montreal and close to the metro(5 min) and the buses (outside the door). The plumbing and heating took a little getting used to, but they are working on making it better. This is an interesting combo of hotel and hostel so there was a great opportunity to meet and talk to a wide range of travelers. We would definitely stay here again!
“Exposed brick, lots of character”
The Le Jazz St-Denis is a lovely little hotel. I stayed in two different rooms (different occasions) and both were spacious, with hardwood floors and walls of exposed stone and brick. Travelers should know that this is a basic hotel; you will have to carry your own suitcase up some very steep stairs. But, the climb is worth it; I like the hotel so much I plan to bring my wife soon for a romantic weekend in Montreal.
“Perfect hotel - excellent value for the money”
Perfect stay, the staff was very friendly and took some time to explain to us everything we should know about the hotel and the city, but also the history of Montreal, Quebec, Canada... The room was great, spacious, perfect bed. I highly recommend this place, which, moreover, is really cheap and in a perfect area.
“pleasant environment, safe and great staff :)”
i arrived and was greeted by a girl who directed my to the washroom and then i was shown to my bunk and given the opportunity to switch bunks if available. i was happy with my bunk. the washroom was right near and the room was clean and bed was just right. a plug in beside bed for laptop or phone charger and free wifi! there is a great community room to relax with a big tv and cable, a kitchen and computer. the patio is nice with trees. my first night i was sitting in the community room with other guest travelers, talking and 3 friendly staff members came down and asked us if we would like to join them to play pool at a local billiards! this was great, they were so easy going and open to help with any questions. the one girl drew me a perfect map of where i wanted to go, which set my next day up just right! :) i truly appreciate her time and effort for that! they are really good staff, very helpful indeed! thanks guys! the guests were also great! i had a nice time! greg, daniel or martin, i hope you all have a wonderful rest of Canadian travel time! cheers, and thanks for the good company! one suggestion i have is to bring your own soap just in case! ok, well over all i definitely recommend staying at this hostel it is well priced and good quality, very central to the art area of the platue and i walked everywhere, or took metro which is also close by!
“Jazz St Denis - one night stay!”
I was looking for an inexpensive place to spend a night near downtown Montreal. The Jazz St. Denis Hostel was just what I was looking for. Simple furnishings in Montreal's Latin Quarter - with much night life. I had a great beer at the nearby L’Amère à Boire brew/pub, 2049 Rue St Denis. I needed to be downtown early in the morning and this Hostel was 5 minutes away - close to the main subway station.
“Deluxe room is the best!”
The Deluxe room we stayed in was wonderful with lots of old Montreal character.
