“GREAT LOCATION AT METRO MOUNT ROYAL”
HOTEL IS LOCATED IN A LIVELY AREA OF MONTREAL WITH THE METRO NEXT DOOR. HOTEL RATES WERE VERY REASONABLE WITH A GREAT CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. BOTTELED WATER WAS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.
“Lovely Stay at the Hotel Stay Mont Royal”
The minute I walked into my room a the Hotel Stay Mont Royal, I felt comfortable and at home. It was the cutest, coziest room I could have asked for. I was in town for 5 days and I loved coming back to my room at the end of the day. The staff were very nice, the breakfast was pretty good for a hostel (croissants, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee...), and the location is EXCELLENT. The Mont Royal Metro stop is literally across the street! This is one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed in! For those of you who are not used to staying in hostels, note that the bathrooms are shared! They were clean, there was never a line, and they even provide shampoo at this hostel, but this still might not be preferred by some folks looking for a place to stay in Montreal!
“Cute, Genial, Convenient”
My friend and I stayed here, when we visited Montreal for a conference. We reserved a double for 4 days. The hotel is cozy, located above a cafe right next to a Metro stop. In the surrounding neighborhood there are diverse eateries (e.g., Thai, MiddleEastern, Crepes, etc.), wine bars, a yoga studio, and a couple of theaters. The hotel itself is very well maintained. The staff is very accommodating and multilingual. They were very warm and super-considerate to my travel companion who is currently very pregnant. If you don't speak French or Spanish, there's always Google Translate! A few very amusing moments arose, because I don't understand French and my Spanish is marginal at best. In all, this hotel is a great option for travelers who're most interested in exploring the city.
“Superb Location for No-Frills Travelers”
Took me back to my days backpacking through Europe-- a very small and basic room (though with flatscreen TV), clean WC and shower down the hall, and super-convenient location 25 meters from the Mont Royal Metro stop. Innkeeper did not speak English (and only a little French... good Spanish though, so we got by just fine), but was extremely kind to us when we arrived without warning at 1:30 am (thanks, Delta, for the delay) and was happy to store our bags for a few hours after we checked out but before we headed back to the airport. Continental breakfast, free wireless, and a computer in the common room. For a third of the prices of other hotels in the area, it was a terrific value provided you don't need the lap of luxury.
“Great "stay" in Montreal”
Great service from a friendly front desk! We got into the room in minutes and were pleased to find fast WiFi, free breakfast, and a Metro Station in view out the window. Communal showers and bathrooms were not a problem and well maintained.
“Nice, clean hotel, nice neighborhood.”
This basic hotel is in a great neighborhood and is literally across the street from a metro (subway) station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and was kept very clean. It should be noted that there are no toilets or showers in the individual rooms, but there is a sink in each room. The toilets/showers are just down the hall, and they are kept very clean. It should also be noted that the showers are TINY! This was not a problem for me, mostly it was funny. The internet service was fast and reliable. I would consider this hotel to be an excellent value and would definitely stay here again.
“Awesome Stay”
If you're a student or on a budget this hotel is perfect. The room was always nice and cooled because of air conditioning, internet was fast, and room was cleaned everyday. The hotel is in a great area with a metro station right beside it and lots of awesome places to eat within walking distance. Yes you do have to share the bathrooms and showers but they are their own separate room and it was not a problem waiting our turn. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
“Charming Boutique Hotel in an Amazing Area”
This is a charming hotel in an amazing area! As soon as you open the front door, there are are plentitude of cafes, restaurants, funky stores to shop in, and a metro station right across the street. I cannot stress what a great area this hotel is in. Being a single girl travelling, I was a bit intimidated by staying here at first, but I am so glad that I read the reviews on Expedia! The rooms are small but nice and the bathrooms are older but cleaned quite often. There was no hairdryer in my room, but the owners gave me one right away when I asked. The owners Ricky and Hustos are terrific and give great recommendations on where to go. If you are on a budget and looking to find a great place to stay in Montreal, this is definitely a great hotel to consider! I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
“Hotel Mont Royal Jan 2011”
Hotel was fine. More like a hostel. Medium size room smaller than an average hotel room. Bed, desk, TV, wi-fi, fridge. Reception was friendly. This place was fine as a room with bed to stay while we explored Montreal. Bathroom and shower were down the hall which wasn't that big of a deal. Please was quiet. The best part about this Hotel Stay is that it is right beside the subway/ Metro station so it was easy as pie getting around. Nice coffee shop downstairs (24h) bars and restaurants all around, really nice shopping all around. If you looking for a home-base with nothing over the top this is a great place. Downside was that because it was so cold outside (-20°C) the heat was cranked in the hotel. (our windows were open)
“A most pleasant surprise”
I came across this hotel by accident while looking for hotels in Montreal. It is a small, quiet clean property with efficient and friendly staff. Located right next to a metro station, made it ideal for our weekend. The parking lot, though not immediately next to the property was only a short walk away. I have probably walked as far or further at major chain hotels with adjacent parking. The room was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The toilet and shower facilities as noted by others are common and located on each floor ( one per gender per floor). We never experienced any delays in these areas and they were kept very clean. For those requiring mobility access, unfortunately there is no elevator, nor are the toilet facilities accessible. Perhaps not for everyone, but it is a rather interesting cross between, hotel, hostel and almost like a B & B environment. Great location, lots of good restaurants nearby, something for everyone. I almost hope people keep passing it by so that there will be a vacancy for my return trips.
