Great location and room

Posted 25-Mar-2015
I love this hotel. I have stayed here before. The pool is on the six floor and a great size. The beds are comfortable and the staff is very friendly. The only negative would be breakfast. The "free breakfast" is only a continental breakfast which the website does not tell you. But they do have a full breakfast buffet however that is about $20 and it's not that great. The hotel is in the gay village and close to the bars and shops which is very convenient if you plan on going to those places. Cabs are very expensive so it's worth the money to stay right here. It's fairly close to old Montreal and there is a subway station just a couple of blocks away.

price was right

Posted 24-Mar-2015
Pros: got a discounted room so was pk for the price....was close to bars and food so was convenient.
Cons: security, new ice machines and someplace else for the compost.
Location: lots to do
the hotel seemed like a frat house the first night with rowdy college kids making a lot of noise.Thank god they left the next day because although there was hotel security, they lacked any control over their clients.First hotel I have been in that did not have a mini fridge so had to use the garbage can as a means to keep stuff cold with the aide of ice. On the ice note we had to go to three different floors to find an ice machine that worked.where the ice machines were located was like visiting the local dump as composting bins were in the same spaces and the floors were horrible....make sure you wear you shoes to get ice!!!

not a 4 star hotel

Posted 12-Mar-2015
Pros: good location
Cons: rooms
rooms are old - they need renovations bad. We didn't get the room we paid for as first, we had them change it. Hotel restaurant not worth the money at all. Never going there again.

Great location, nice stay

Posted 6-Mar-2015
Great location in the festival area of downtown Montreal. Just a short 30 second walk to one of the main subway stations, Berri-UQAM, that connects all the subway lines. The airport express bus stops right next to the hotel as well. You can hop on the subway and get to the eaton centre and a lot of the other shopping on Saint Catherine street in just 10 minutes or so. You can leave the hotel and walk to Saint Laurent boulevard, one of the main areas for bars and night life. 10 minute walk to the Metropolis where we went for the Hozier concert. The hotel room was nice, great view. The pool was pretty standard, clean and small. The hotel staff were great, the front desk lady was able to check us in and get us in a early (9am). The beds were comfy and the rooms/bathrooms were very clean. No trouble with having enough clean towels, soap, etc. Would definitely stay here again if I were ever visiting the area again.

More front desk staff please

Posted 5-Mar-2015
Everything was great at this hotel. Staff were very professional and friendly. I stayed in two different rooms and both were clean. Great location very near to the Metro which could be accessed underground. My only one suggestion though is to have more front desk staff available during busy periods. I was at a conference which meant I could only access the front desk during breaks and lunch. The card to my room wasn't working which meant I was locked out of my room all day because the lines at the front desk were too long.

Get away weekend in Montreal

Posted 3-Mar-2015
Pros: This hotel is right downtown close to subway .good places to eat and everything you could ask for
Cons: Please leave everything just as it is .If it works PLEASE don't fix it .
Location: The Hotel Gouverneur is right down town and beside the a main subway station so getting around in city from there is easy by subway or cab .
I have stayed at the Gouverneur Hotel many times in the last few years and have always found this Hotel to be very good .This time it was even better .I was given a very nice room on the 27th floor overlooking St Catherine street .Great view .I stayed two nights ,Saturday and Sunday .Booked with Expedia as I always do .Good price Good service and no surprizes .
