“Good value for money”
friendly and helpful staff, provide suggestions and directions of interesting places to visit. location though out of city area, is readily accessible via bus/metro. Only problem is dinner, make sure you have your dinner in the city or pack.
“For the price, not a bad place to crash”
Thanks to Montreal's superior public transportation system, this hotel is located within about 15 minutes from nearly any part of town. However, the neighborhood surrounding the hotel doesn't have much going on. The hotel itself is pretty cool (an old post office built in the 19th century), and the well stocked continental breakfast served daily from 7:30 to 10:30 is a good perk. Free wifi is another plus. The walls are pretty thin, and rabble rousing frat boys trampsing through the halls late at night woke me up more than once. The shared bathroom wasn't too much of a hassle as it's typically nearby the room and each bathroom is only shared between two rooms. Hotel staff was very helpful in equipping me with maps and train schedules, and was very helpful on giving advice for navigating the city. For the price, this hotel's shortcomings weren't outrageous, considering standard hotels can go for $150-$300 per night. Unique hotel experience in a unique city. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking to stay off the beaten path and doesn't mind cutting some corners for a good price.
“Horrible”
1.Please check if the washroom are shared? 2.Hope that the bed sheets are clean and does not make noise
“Not impressed”
small room, no service.
“they were so rude and mean to me. they had discrimination to english speaking people.”
I do not like this hotel.
“Small but Quaint”
My stay was relatively okay, the staff was very nice and knowledgeable of the surrounding area and attractions. The free breakfast isn't much to speak of, but edible. I'd recommend eating out more so. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit rundown, and there are not many places to eat or go outside of a 15+minute walk in any direction. Altogether, the hotel is nice and i'd recommend it. The rooms are a bit small depending on price and the furnishings are definetly older, but are in no way uncomfortable or unwelcome. If you are planning to walk, I suggest the Pre'fontaine Metro nearby as construction is blocking the bus routes near the hotel. The staff was always helpful and willing to help book taxi rides or any other service needed. So if you're looking for a good budget Hotel and don't mind a walk, I recommend The Auberge Manoir.
“Great B&B, Not So Great Area”
This little place was really nice - clean, very friendly, equipped with all the basics plus free wifi and breakfast and not too noisy or crowded. The auberge itself is quite nice, especially for the price (even the shared bathrooms were fine, and we never had to wait to use the shower) - however those looking for a fancy place need not apply. For a couple of students it was great. The one complaint is the area. While it is conveniently located, it's not surrounded by the nicest neighbourhood and the smell of urine definitely lingered in the streets. Once you're inside the auberge, no problem, but the outside can be a little daunting. We were always able to find parking on the lot though and everything else was quite satisfactory.
“Rene's East side retreat in Montreal”
Our Expedia reservation turned out to be at a different hotel from the one we thought we had booked. With that said, the people who run and work at the hotel are very nice and extremely helpful. However, the hotel is very, very far from the airport (an expensive trip) and seems to cater to college age people. Room was described as a 'family room,' but two double beds barely fit. Lighting was poor. Free continental breakfast was very nice, with the most wonderful coffee we have had in years. There was plenty of food and juice and milk and coffee, along with various pastries and accoutrement. All in all, not bad and very reasonable, just in a real out-of-the-way location. Special shout-out for Rene = nice man!
“Clean and quiet, good breakfast and polite people”
The hotel is 10 minutes driving away from the downtown area. Looks more on the older side, but it is extremely clean. The room that we had did not have a bathroom, it only had a sink in the room. The restrooms and the showers were very clean and with plenty of clean towels. The breakfast was very good, with plenty of options. The personnel of the hotel was very polite and very helpful.
“A surprise”
This hotel is fine if you can live with a shared bathroom. For me, it was a surprise and I am not sure if I would have choosen this hotel if I knew this before. The hotel staff are really cool and helpful all the time.
