“Needed hotel options outside Siena”

Arriving in Tuscany the day of the Paleo (July 2) we could not find reasonably priced accomodations in Siena. Preferring to stay south near the wine regions of Montalcino and Montepulciano we selected this hotel after misreading the town's name (we thought we were closer to Montalcino than we were). Located 25min south of Siena the hotel is "comfortable" and the rooms are "okay", with pool and onsite restaurant. The price was reasonable. The Italian class rating system pertains to the services offered and not the general quality of the services offered. Thus a hotel like this one can justify four stars on the basis of the pool, onsite full service restaurant and 24hr front desk, however other than amenities there is little to distiguish it from two or three star places offering less services. Our biggest criticism is the location. You are a long way from many things in the midst of the country. Siena was 25min north, Montacino (home of Brunello) was 40min via windy secondard roads - things were simply not as close as they appeared on a map.

“Shame about the facilties”

Looking at the photos this place looked fantastic, however rooms were not good (toilet broke twice) we had to move rooms, then the fridge flooded the new room. the main road is right next to the Hotel hence the handy waterfall by the pool to drown traffic noise out and the derelict building next door looks terrible. There is a resturant and food is Ok but at Captive prices as there is nothing else near by. But the biggest disappointment is there is nothing to do at night the only wine is a house red/white (in chianti region!!)
