“Nice people, good location and great value”

We were looking for a romantic getaway on a tight budget. We found this hotel to be very reasonably priced for Monterey and loved the fact there was a fireplace in the room. It is an older hotel, but it has character and class! The rooms have been updated and are nicely decorated. It isn't the Waldorf in New York, but its a great place on a budget. Nearby restaurants and attractions and wonderfully nice and efficent staff made it a pleasure to stay at. They pillows are a little too firm but we brought our own to make it comfy. I would recommend this hotel for all those looking for a great place at a good price! We will return!

“Good value for no frills stay.”

Stayed with wife and 2 kids (11 and 5 yrs old). We just needed a place to stay for 1 night. The check-in and check-out process was painless. Hotel is small so getting from car to office to room is easy. Room was acceptable. Beds were clean and comfrotable, but the carpet was a little suspect. Walls were probaby a bit on the thin side as we could hear noise from next door and outside, but nothing we couldn't deal with. We showered, watched TV (poor reception) and slept fine. We're pretty flexible and like things easy. Would go back for more no-drama and no-frills.

“Great Value”

Best value in Monterey. I go on business each month and have stayed in 3 star hotels and this hotel is a great option for those who want to save $$$$$$$$$$$

“A good place to stay”

The hotel location is good, very close the US 101 and not so far from downtown Monterey. The staff is helpful. The bed is good too and the place is quiet at night. They are rebuilding internally the office, but not a problem.

“Would stay there again”

The Del Monte could use a little revamping, but the room was comfortable. Liked the gas fireplace in the corner, free wireless, fridge, coffee maker, and micro. The pink walls are a bit much and should be two toned to give it more contrast. All in all we had a pleasant stay there, even though the weather was a bit funky.

“Good hotel w/excellent staff”

This small hotel offers the basics at an affordable price. The owner/managers are knowledgeable about the area and are very friendly. This hotel is situated across the street from a major mall in Monterey. However, the mall is set back from the street and is attractively landscaped, giving the hotel a more secluded feel. Evening road noise was a slight detraction for me (not at all for my companion)until the mall closes. The hotel is conveniently located near Hwy 1/Hwy 68 and is only a few minutes from all local attractions.

“If you are on a budget and not looking for a high class place then stay here.”

The office staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was OK. It was not spacious and the bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in (bed comfort is subjective and what I like, you may not) but after a busy day exploring beautiful Montery I could have slept almost anywhere. Two things that bothered me were: The wooden stairs (exterior) going up to the second floor were rotten to the point of being dangerous. Be very careful where you step! On our last day there I tried to use the phone and got no dial tone. When I investigated I found that the connection had been torn from the wall. When I told the person at the front desk about it on my way out I was told that the last occupants had mentioned it was damaged (shouldn't they have fixed it or at least told me about it!!??). I wasn't impressed with that. What if we had an emergency? A working telephone is a pretty basic ammenity in a room. All in all I would stay there again but would expect these things to be corrected first.

“Nice place to stay”

The hotel was very convenient for all we wanted to do. Close to the 17 mile drive and downtown Monterey and wharf. Our only complaint was the pillows were hard. Bring your own pillows and everthing will be great.
