“Montego Bays Best!!”
We loved our stay at Montego Bay's Secret St James. The rooms were very nice & the bed was amazing! Bring your own pillows though. The shower area needed some help with leakage but it was minor. Also the maid service was a little slow and sometimes the room would not be clean until 5pm or later, that was disappointing. The food and drinks were great! You can get any drink you can think of, the bartenders are great!! The restaurants are very nice with the most amazing views!!! Some tables were outside so you can take in the view and entertainment. The food at the the italian restaurant was not as good as the others in my opinion. The entertainment was super! Above most other all-inclusives we have been to. The beach area was nice, long and narrow but plenty of seats ( although you did have to get up early to get some shade). The water was beautiful and there was nice soft sand to walk out on! People were amazing there seemed to be a great mix of activities to do . We will return!
“Fantastic stay!”
Secrets St. James was a great time! I loved it there. Everyone is extremely friendly, the rooms are beautiful, and I thought the food was pretty good (unlike some comments I read). They have amazing jerk chicken! It's a must try from one of the carts that go around the beach. We stayed during Christmas week, and they made an exceptional attempt to have their guests experience a "Christmas" away from home vibe. The only thing is I would be wary of are the tours such as the Bob Marley/Dunn River. You not only pay for the tour which is $200 plus for 2, but they failed to mention that you would need more for food (outside the resort), water shoes, and tips for what seemed everybody! We didn't account for all of those expenses. Just make sure to ask to be sure you are prepared. We did the glistening water tour and I must say it was the most unique experience of our trip. It's a must do! In addition, the rooms were lovely and very clean, but sometimes the sink or the mini bar would leak. We didn't mind this so much, and would just wipe it with a towel. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean and comfy. I would definitely go back!
“has to be the best hotel resort in montego bay!!!”
My Husband and I,needed a vacation some R & R,after the school summer vacations!! My daughter went back to boarding school and my Husband and myself wanted a great place to unwind and get close to each other again, without "KIDS"..!!! We definately found the right place at SECRETS ST JAMES, the Staff were fabulous,ALL INCLUSIVE,was the best way to go for us too, we drank a lot, Especially the Bob Marley frozen drinks, the best!! However we are not Big Drinkers, but it was a nice change to drink and be relaxed and not watch what you have to do or say,as there were no children around!!! HEAVEN ON EARTH!!! COUPLE RETREAT FOR CERTAIN!! GO AND HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!
“Wonderfully Relaxing”
LOCATION and BEACH - The resort is conveniently located about 15 minutes from the airport on a peninsula that includes only 1 other resort. You are not required to wear the annoying bracelets that are common at many all inclusive resorts. We felt the beach was very beautiful and had nice soft sand. The water is fairly shallow for quite a distance out and there are relatively no waves. You do not have to deal with towel cards each day which was very nice. Also, there is plenty of seating available so you don't have to worry about arriving early in the morning to reserve a spot. ROOM - Our room was very nice with elegant styling. The bed was one of the most comfortable either of us have ever slept on. The built in DVD player on the TV was nice to have for afternoons when we had some "liquid sunshine" (Jamaican expression for rain). There was also an umbrella in the room which came in handy. FOOD - Overall the food was very good. We enjoyed the buffet food, but by the end of our stay we were wishing for a bigger variety at breakfast. We found the food to be great at all locations. Some of the dining options do not offer air conditioning (Himitsu and Portofino) and get a little warm, so be sure to dress accordingly. OVERALL - Without hesitation we highly recommend the resort. Compared with many other AI resorts this one is somewhat small so nothing on the property is really more than a 5 minute walk at most. Go and have a fabulous and relaxing vacation. You won't regret it.
“Best service we ever got”
Secrets has a great model here to overwhelm the guest with service. No request was too small. All-inclusive here means sitting poolside and having a server come every 15 minutes to get your drink order, a endlessly-reilled mini bar, eating each night at one of their gourmet restaurants, and housekeeping twice a day. While the liquor selection was wonderful and even high end, the one area of imrovement we would like to see is in the wines. Wines included at the bars or restaurants are not up to par with their other servings -- too cheap and young vintages (one or two years old). There is an optional wine list available but those wines while good, are overpriced. Serious wine drinkers will be disappointed. That said, we'd go back in an instant - the service and accomodations were amazing!
“Nice hotel but small beach area”
We were very pleased with this resort. It has nice, updated rooms. The pools and surrounding areas are clean, but can get crowded by about 10 am. The restaurants do not have a large menu, which was fine with us because we were not there to eat. The surrounding area is poor, but this is a third world country, so that is to be expected. The one thing that we were somewhat disappointed, but cannot be helped, was the small beach area. We don't like to be able to hear every noise the neighbor says, but it is hard to avoid becuase chairs are lined up down the narrow beach area. We felt service was good whether you tipped or not, but we tipped most of the time. Be careful after it rains because the tile lining the walkway and in the lobby areas can be slippery with some sandals/flip flops. All in all, we had a good trip. If the weather would have cooperated (it rained every evening about 2 pm), it would have been a great trip.
“Wow - absolutely great place to stay”
This hotel is gorgeous! The staff are friendly and the food and entertainment was excellent. I cannot wait to go again in January 2011
“No Worries”
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Jamacia. It was a very short ride from the airport to the hotel which was very convient. We had a beachfront view room and it was worth the extra money. We saw the sunset every night from our balcony, very romantic since it was our honeymoon. We also did some off hotel tours which the hotel made very easy to sign up for. People who worked at the hotel were all very nice and laid back. If you are looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway this is your place. Everything is "No Worries, and no problem!" Already planning to go back for one of our aniversaries.
“Can't wait to go back.”
This is a great place...My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved it...We would love to go back...
