A large resort with a few little problems.

Posted 1-May-2015
Location: We did a few tours. Enjoyed them all but the catameran to Rick's Cafe was the best one. Nothing is near by. it is quite drive to anything.
A few little issues that overall are not anything big but with the resort's rating it gets old fast. Faceclothes seem to be in low supply because you always have to ask for a couple. No hot water one day. Internet is scetchy at times. The jacuzzi tubs need a step stool to get into them even for the average person. As well, if you are on a lower floor and you are awaken in the middle of the night by a load motor running...enough that it makes you jump out of your bed and look to see where it is coming from...no fear it is just the jacuzzi tub in the room above you. It sounds like it is running right beside your bed. You do get a room fridge that they restock each day with a variety of pop and 2 beers and 2 waters. Beer & water, 2 only for the day no more no less. At the bars you get it in glasses. The resort is large and things are spread out. The only place to get a snack and really isn't a snack is quite a distance from the main area of the resort. Overall the food was good. Late night at the buffet not always the greatest. Not sure what it takes to get chicken for your stir fry when the dish for it is empty..."is there any more chicken?" "No" then you go back up later to find a new dish of chicken out for the stir fry. The specialty restaurants that we tried were great. Overall we did enjoy our stay. But with constent little issues it gets frustrating because when you call about anything you always get, " we are working on it" which usually means you have to call again.

Great hotel

Posted 30-Apr-2015
Overall the resort is really nice, multiple beaches and pools to enjoy. The splash park was great for our two year old. The dining options were good but the seafood restaurant (posiden's) was terrible. We are cruisers but couldn't do one because my wife is too pregnant so this was our first all inclusive but we met a lot of other people there who had done all inclusives before and they said it was a really good one. The only things which overall are small things is that it took a while for your soda to get refilled in the restaurants and the craftsmanship of certain parts of the hotel were obviously built on Jamaican standards. Again overall great experience and we would go back again.

All Inclusive

Posted 29-Apr-2015
Cons: Have everything open to the public for the price
the mini bar in the villa only had soft drinks that not mini bar. I did not want to go to the bar for drinks all the time and ask for a smoking room and got a non smoking if I knew that I would have went somewhere that had smoking because we both smoke and sitting outside to smoke was not what I wanted to do by my choice.

Nice Hotel-lots of pushy salespeople

Posted 24-Apr-2015
The hotel was clean. Check in was fast and the clerk was nice. We received a packet of information and were shuttled to our room. Thank goodness because our room is FAR from any of the facilities. Please note there are NO elevators so we climbed the 3 stories to our room. It was nice not amazing and had a balcony. The "mini bar" included 2 beers, 2 sodas and 2 waters that were luke warm at best. If you want your mini bar restocked it's $20 a day after they stick it with this items. Hardly all inclusive. There are salespeople through out the facility. They want you to go to the spa, buy excursions etc. it became quite annoying. You better take lots of $1 bills for tipping or good luck getting a drink or a ride back to your room. I won't return. RIU all-inclusive hotels are a way better deal.

Nice resort overall. Had to switch rooms the first night due to a bad sewage smell outside our room. Also beach is pretty rocky in spots and resturant service was bad two nights.

Pros: The mattress was very uncomfortable.
Cons: The attentiveness of the staff. More adult activities (I.e a comedy show).
The staff was not as engaging as expected. The staff seems not to understand how their presence and personality can affects ones vacation.

Nice hotel, but the food is bland.

Posted 21-Apr-2015
The hotel was excellent, the staff was amazing. However the food was terrible. The only place on the property that served a decent meal that you can enjoy is the Jerk spot by the beach. And if you are going to Jamaica for the authentic food, don't stay at this hotel because they don't serve it. As cheap as Ackee is they only serve it for breakfast twice per week Wednesday and Sunday. With all the restaurants on the property the food was bland. I would not recommend for the food, but you would enjoy the facility the view is great.

Best vacation ever

Pros: Food, staff, beach.
Cons: No spa people asking to purchase space services. Please stop this.
Location: Scotchies Jerk Hut
My wife and I had a great time. We didn't request an ocean view, but we were given one which was wonderful. Food is great especially the new Indian restaurant and jerk hut as always. We noticed that the chefs take the temperature of the food at the buffet (keep up the good work with this to prevent food borne illnesses). The food at the Jamaican restaurant changed. I had the rasta pasta which I have every year, but this year it was completely different. The food description should match the menu ingredients. There was also a jerk potato salad in the past and that was also not available. The jerk potato salad was delicious, please bring this back. I will try this restaurant again, but please make sure the food matches the menu. Rooms are clean, no problems there, always had hot water for showering. The bed and pillows are incredibly hard though. Air conditioning was great. Check in and out was easy and fast. What we don't like is the spa staff asking for massages constantly especially when you leave the restaurant or walk by a restaurant. People are not likely to purchase spa services if they are being pressured. I felt like I was buying a new car and talking to the sales people. Please stop this.
