The host was extremely unfriendly and made faces whils showing the room. Very non cordial and non helpful host. I kept ringing the bell but was attended after 40 minutes. Extremely poor service

Dear guest, we are sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Unfortunately you arrived outside of our listed arrival times and therefore our reception was closed and our out of hours team were in church. We do feature arrival times on our listing to try and prevent such situations but will look to make the information more readily accessible going forward. We will address your comments regarding the greeting you received with the member of staff directly.

The outstanding feature of the B&B was the peace, I slept really well. The breakfast was simple but good, the rooms were spotless and comfortable and I will definitely go there again.

Thank you for such a lovely review. We look forward to seeing you again,
A wonderful experience staying in a monastery. The monastery and it's grounds are beautiful, spiritual and peaceful.
The room was comfortable and there was plenty of hot water.
There were many thoughtful and considerate touches which raised this stay above many other b'n'bs that we have stayed in.
We attended evensong and it was very rewarding.
The simple continental breakfast was adequate.
There are many pubs and restaurants nearby in/near Mirfield. There is also a local train station with Huddersfield being only 8 minutes away.
I would highly recommend Mirfield monastery to anyone looking for a slightly different experience.

What a lovely stay! Exactly what I needed and arrived with a very warm greeting and explained where everything was. Extremely clean and a great breakfast selection. Will definitely stay again when visiting my friends and family in the area again.

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Yes, if you arrive out of office hours or at the weekend, you are likely to be greeted by a monk! We hope you will come again.Monastery B & B
It was a nice place to stay. The grounds of the monastery/college are very pretty. Breakfast is do your own. Easy walk to Pub for dinner.

First time staying in a monastery and would certainly recommend it. Staff were very friendly, rooms were great, showers were amazing. Brekkie choice was fairly limited but excellent for the price. Would definitely return.

Dear Barry,We are so pleased to hear about your wonderful stay with us - it truly is a stunning location. Please come back to stay soon! With thanks,The Guest Team.
I stayed on a Saturday night and just made it in time to check in before everyone disappeared into Evensong service at 6pm.
The property is beautiful, the grounds immaculate and whilst you couldn’t describe the rooms as luxurious they are clean, comfortable and have everything you need.
Breakfast was a help yourself with cereals, toast, yoghurts and eggs with fresh coffee.
I had a walk in the extensive grounds and it is peaceful and resting.
You are requested to be respectful of others who may be there in silent contemplation while about the property and not to be noisy in your room (keeping windows closed if listening to music or watching TV). This suited me fine as the reason for my trip was work and a quiet evening was perfect after a busy day!
Overall I can fault anything and will definitely stay again.

This is a working monastery and retreat so this should be bourne in mind when you book. The rooms are up a lot of stairs so disabilities need to be discussed directly with the monastery. Breakfast is a do it yourself meal, toast, cereal, fruit and boiled eggs you can do in the boiled egg maker. You refill the coffee filter machine yourself and instructions for this would be handy. The rooms a furnished by iKea and the bed we had was a small double. The grounds are peaceful and there are times for prayer when you will have a wait to find anyone to assist you. This is clearly explained on the door to reception. They cannot take money so pay in advance for your room.
All in all, everything was spot on, enjoyed my stay.
Some mold around the shower area, easily remedied.
A long walk through the grounds to the refectory in the dark for the Christmas Dinner and disco but torches were provided.
Dear Julie,Thank you very much for your excellent rating, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.Kind regards,Gill
The visit was made worth the stay just to walk round the gardens and see in the church which was special
We will stay again definately
Only question was why the bed base was shorter than the mattress not that it was not comfortable and I worked in the bed industry
It was a joy to stay to stay here. The buildings and grounds were awesome. Lots of beautiful snowdrops. Excellent shower, simple but comfortable room, relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. Everybody we encountered - staff and other guests - were helpful & cheerful.

Thank you, Linda. We are so glad you enjoyed our beautiful grounds and peaceful environment and we hope you will come and stay again. We love to be able to share this special place with others.
When booking, I thought what an original name for a B&B, however, it is a Monastery, a very interesting, peaceful and safe with lovely walks in the grounds, we were more than impressed in the change from Travelodges, we loved it. May I mention Colette, she was most helpful and welcoming, thank you.

Thank you for your lovely review. We hope to welcome you again in the future.
After a tricky time spent trying to find it in the dark, we received very friendly welcome to a very peaceful and comfortable stay. The decor was basic but functional and the shower was very powerful. There were plenty of provisions and we were warm and comfortable. We will be back in the spring/summer to spend more time exploring the vast grounds

Thank you, Richard. I'm so glad you found us, despite the dark and that you had a comfortable stay. We will look at the directions given on the website to see if we can minimise this difficulty. Although we are on a main road and bus route, people sometimes say that SatNav led them down a cul-de-sac at the back of the monastery! We hope you will come again - the grounds are, indeed, beautiful in spring and summer.
