Fabulous Stay!

Posted 25-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
I travel a lot and this hotel is by far the BEST place I have stayed. I stayed here 5 years ago, but had forgotten. When I walked in for this stay I remembered the hotel and was so pleased to be there. The rooms are great, but it's the amenities that would have me book here over and over. Full breakfast included each morning with very accommodating staff and a comfortable dining area. In the evening the hotel provides a complimentary "small" dinner. There is no menu, it's what they cook that day. They provide a glass of wine or beer with your evening meal and snacks as well. The outside patio is very comfortable, I could sit there and relax for hours. Area, for business travel, is perfect, as it's in the centre of a main business park and can walk to work. Did I mention the Shuttle? It's awesome as well. Overall great hotel and great service - THANKS!

Pros: Quiet! Clean -- great breakfast and happy hour.
Cons: It is pretty perfect.
Location: Tons of shopping near by in Edina center, Uptown, Mall of America. Trader Joe's nearby -- my fave.
Great location. Great stay. We will definitely stay here again. There is a Hertz office on site. We will take the free shuttle from the airport to hotel to pick up our car there. Seems so convenient.

Great weekend trip

We really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn in Edina. Our room was very nice we got a top floor room with a great view of downtown Minneapolis. Kids loved the pool and the giant play room. It was very nice to have that after having the kids in the car for 8 hrs. We opened our window and knowing how close you are to the freeway couldn't hear a thing. We will be going back in August for a longer stay. I have already told people at work to stay there if their ever up in Minneapolis.

expectation not met

This was a nice clean hotel. The one elevator was being maintenanced and the one that was working was not working properly. I would stop and open on every floor, regardless of people. The pool is located next door all the way through a indoor city park. It also closed at 9, which the workers were making everyone leave at 845 and rude about it. The park is an extra fee but not the pool and track. For what you pay to stay here, it should be included. The breakfast was good and had a variety of items. However, I would not stay here again due to the park/pool area. It should not be advertised together when it is actually separate, especially the pool area.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the Marriott Residence Inn I Edina. You shared that the elevators were an inconvenience during your stay due to one of them being out of order. This was the last step in completing our recent renovations. We are upgrading both of the elevators . They will completed May 25th. The Edibourough park connected to us is owned and opperated by the city of Edina. We do work with them as much as possible, but we also know we can not relay on them to provide the service we expect. We do try to post and advertise that the pool and track that we have to use does not belong to us, but that we provide complimentary use to this facility. I apologize that this was not correctly shared with you. We do value your business and would love to have you stay with us again.

Don't let the outside fool you...

Generally on vacations, I stay out on the fringes of a town. The hotels tend to be newer and cleaner, the neighborhood quieter, better access to highways. In this case, I chose this hotel because of the review and because it was near the area where I would be spending my time while in town. The area around the hotel isn't very attractive...surrounded by a bunch of multi-story buildings, both business and condos. The exterior looks somewhat old and dated. But it got much better from there. The hotel itself is actually attached to another residential building and provides access to an excellent gym/track and a huge indoor playground for kids. As for the hotel itself, the room was very large, clean, and well maintained. Bed was comfortable. Hotel staff was very helpful and the breakfast area was large, clean, and had lots of food. One of the attendents was glad to go get my wife a packet for hot chocolate when they had none sitting out. Two thumbs up!

Loved this hotel! Very nice and clean recently remodled. Great location with pool and playground for kids. Room was gorgeous with full kitchen for great price! Great breakfast! Only one elevator working during construction which was a pain but still worth it!

Nice place for kids

Cons: The hotel should stop handing out the green slips for access to the park and pool and instead let the hotel guests enter with their room keys.
I thought this hotel was a good value for the price. However, there are some areas for improvement. This hotel only has 2 elevators. During our stay, one of them was not working. So every time we returned to our room, it was between a 10 - 20 min wait for an elevator, depending on the time of day. Also, the pool and the jungle gym are not part of the hotel. Hotel guests may enter for free, but only with a slip given to you during your hotel registration. So if you forgot your slip of paper on your way down to either the jungle gym or the pool, you had to wait 10 - 20 minutes for an elevator to take you back up to your room to retrieve it. It was time-consuming and a huge inconvenience. On the up side, the staff were friendly, the room was clean, and breakfast was served for 3 hours - a huge improvement from most places I've been to that only serve the continental breakfast for 1 hour.

Thank you for your input regarding your stay with us . I am sorry for the inconvenience you expereinced with our elevators. This is the final step in our renovation process to ensure our elevators are up to guest standards. They are actually done as of today. As for the park you are correct it is run by the city and we do not have control of the hours, however we do try to advertize that this is not a part of the hotel but our guests do have use of the park. Thank you again for your input and compliments regarding our staff and cleanliness.
