We drove up to the hotel and there was a shopping cart with garbage on the corner. I'm thinking it must be in a bad area because there is a huge glass window with a little area to slip something under. The staff was crabby, hence we had already paid for our room and didn't get there until 10pm. The smell was horrible. We got a view of the pool, which was about the size of a large jacuzzi and maximum capacity was 12 people. We got up to our room. The TV was hard to get to turn on because the outlets were hanging out of the walls and so in order to get the cable and tv plugged in we had to pull the chair up to hold it into the outlet. The stove top was broken and missing all sorts of parts and was filthy. We lived with it for a night as it was only from 10pm to 7am but we were almost scared to go out to our vehicle.

Spoke to locals, says the hotel is in awful neighborhood. Cops had to be called to get noisy room next to us out, as they were fighting and doing drugs. Several arrest were made that night.

“Creeped Out”

Northwood Inn & Suites is a motel under poor management. Breakfast offered is nothing but microwavable Lil Debbie-esque packaged pastries. Terrible TV had one working channel. Security is apparently horrible. Someone had gotten into our room, thinking it was their's, while we were out. They were somewhat helpful when we returned, but could not explain how our door had been open. We left immediately, did not even sleep over. Due to surrounding guests and the simple fact that it's clearly unsafe, do not spend your money here.

“northwood inn and suites”

Not a bad place to stay for a night or two. However, the toilet was making a flushing sound all night and was getting quite annoying. Also the heat was on too high and I tried turning it down but it still didnt work. Nothing fancy just a regular motel but affordable. Also the concierge was very polite and welcoming. The location is prime being a mile away from mall of america and close to other hotels in the area. Would I stay again possibly on the other hand would I reccomend it? probably not!.

Hard to find, but good service

The room isn't super fancy, but it's clean and tidy and has all of the amenities I needed. The complementary wifi was a life saver even if it was a little slower that I'm used to. There is no tub but there is a continental breakfast and the hotel is only a mile away from the Mall of America and about three blocks from Walmart.

“No frills but a great stay”

If you want to stay at a hotel with room service and plenty of embellishments this hotel ISN'T what your lookings for. However if you want single story quick in an out place to stay with easy access to the freeway, this is a good hotel for you. The standard room has a queen sized bed, a small referigerator, microwave, coffee station, a small bathroom and a TV. Unlike larger hotels, I litterally parked my car in front of my individual room. When staying at this hotel you need a car. The Hotel is next to the freeway and I was suprised not to hear the highway traffic. The Mall of America and bus/train routes are over 3 miles away. There's a WallMart 1 mile in the other direction. The area is populated with other hotels and industrial buildings closed to the general public. No payphones or open businesses/bars at night so walking is not a good idea. Overall I liked the place. It was a great price, comfortable, clean and secure place to stay. If I can match the price with a future Expedia package of airplane travel and car rental I would stay there again. Also to see that cute receptionist with the blues eyes. Wow she's adorable!

“Not Good”

We got a no smoking room but the pillow reeked of cigarette smoke YUKKK I asked for different bed pillow but was told they had none and that was it... we were booked for 4 days but left after the second day it was NOT good ...
